Copied means you are good. You really can't stop people doing reverse-engineering. There are all kinds of copies all over the world not limited to Taobao. B22, Dartzeel, HA5000, Rudistor, ML amps.... The best copy of Dartzeel was even a 1:1 pcb copy, because they bought a brand new one to rip apart. So, my point is, if there's market, there's copy. It's simply different market for those who bought a genuine Dartzeel or a copied one. I for one hate copy cat but there's really nothing we can do. (at least now)

Thanks Jim. You're so kind. Always informative. Interesting thing is, Stax uses CCS loads in their SS amps and resistors in tube amps. I could imagine 007t would be a nice amp with CCS.

I am sourcing parts now. Having a few questions. It's so hot in summer here so I am going to run carbon @400V to give more headroom for cranking up the current. So correct me if I am wrong. trafo: sec:335V@250mA GRHV: pre reg cap:500V, post reg cap:450V both up to 680uf. 2SA1486 substitutes STN9360. Need to flip 1486 for the pin definition. questions here: 1.Is there any substitute for op27 for the servo? after searching op27 as keyword I didn't find a clear answer. Kevin said opa445. I wonder if TL-0x1 works. 2.Need a Led for power indicator. About how much mcd should I choose for soft light after reflecting from the desktop? Are 2SA1486 still substitute for STN9360 and 2SC3840 for KSC5026 for the usage in carbon/GRHV? I happened to still had some 1486 and 3840 at hand. If new ones are better, than I'd buy some new.

one of my friend recently listen to my KGST powered modded 007A MK2.9.(RCA via adapter). And say it lacks eletrostatic characteristic. He meant the top end doesn't "shines". I know some people likes Lambdas(507) with 006t. And thinks mafia designs are too brutal and make staxes sound "not like stax". Err........just a matter of taste.

Two questions: 1.what's difference between Carbon V5/V6 2.would you please GB Ground Grid as well? PS: I think GB for ground grid DHT will be more convenient for those who want to use EL34 just need to connect the heater point-to-point. Thanks! brought a second handed 007A SZ2-21XX. When compare in the shop with SZ2-20XX, I found the latter has forward midrange and boomy bass while former has tighter bass. Despite tighter bass it was still A LOT. I bet the 21XX one was so called MK2.9. So I brought it home. It was quiet a bargain for a 007A sell less than $1000, though former owner was a heavy smoker. I hate that fxxking smell. For the first week I was trying not to mod it, thinking if I had to sell it again, better to left it stock, and found the total performance was even worse than 407. The boomy upper bass ate all the detail and made the phone intolerable. Than I thought why not give it one more chance? After the port mod, the phone grown into a lovely beastie. Driven by KGST the phone really shines and became a all rounder. Sorry for my English, I coudn't describe the sound in detail. Thanks spritzer. All hail the Stax fart!!

I wonder if we can use thermistor for the job, Lower the inrush current and thus prolong the heater's life. And also add time delay for HV. but but but I don't know how to calculate.

Is the 400V PSU from KGST (KGBHultramini) able to power Carbon? I've already built a 400V KGST. I wonder if I could just swap the output boards. I've checked the transformer. It was tight but should be OK.([email protected] , [email protected])

never heard a 207 on better amp than 252s. 407 on KGST is undoubtly good. It's said 207, 307 ,407 have similar drivers. I think its on par with 507 when well driven. I won't say 407 is better than 507. Just a matter of taste.
