I don't know what type he was, american longhair was the only answer I ever got from vets. He wasn't talkative, but he did like to be the center of attention. If you were sitting down, he was on your lap or in your face. We used to sit on my listening chair together. He'd just sit there and purr.

Jazz left us due to lung cancer over a year ago, but I miss him like crazy. He was insane, fun and loving. Best cat ever. Here's our other little kitty, Ripley:

  4. I've used Signal which does the same sort of thing. There is a lot of information somewhere on the Slim Devices forums regarding iPeng and Signal. They are both based on using playlists If I'm not Mistaken. Signal works with iTunes and an airport express (grawk used it i think). and iPeng works with the squeezebox.
  5. LOL, right there with ya man. And yeah, it's probably that bad
  6. I don't have experience with the Lambda Spirit, but I can say that between the Lambda Pro and the Lambda Pro Signature, I'd take the Signature.

Congrats Nate! Enjoy, you deserve it.
  9. this is why I love mousers project list function. Just log in and click to order a whole project. Do you have to have the panasonics? Mouser doesn't have a minimum order penalty. You could get some nichicons.
  10. http://wiredforgadgets.com/?p=743 Chapel Hill has a new hotspot program and one of the access points is across from my bus stop. I was having trouble getting access so I googled it and found this link. I just wrote the DNS address in the notes area on my touch for future reference.
  11. I agree, if you really want/need a USB DAC, go with the Pico.

I doubt anyone is annoyed, we've all been following the thread with anticipation. It was just a joke dude. Now I really wish I could make CanJam to hear this.

That's the worst PCB soldering I've ever seen.....oh, wait..... Looks great man, can't wait to hear impressions soon. Make sure you create a blog to keep us updated on hour by hour changes....I want an RSS feed too.
  16. Very nice indeed Justin.
  17. So far they haven't asked me to chip in to fill up the bus I take to work Let's hope it stays that way. It's nice traveling to work in free public transit.
  18. Another vote for the Pico. I was using my Pico (now sold) with an ATH-ESW9 and I liked the results. It's a great little headphone, but at $300 for the ATs it's stretching the price/performance barrier a bit. You can certainly get a better headphone than it for $300. The wood cups are what adds to the cost. That said, for a sealed portable headphone, it's pretty darn good. I also used the HD600 with the Pico with good results. It was my work rig for a few months and I was perfectly happy with it. Either way you go, the Pico is a great little DAC/amp combo. If you get a Pico, make sure it's orange.... they sound better than any of the other colors. EDIT: As far as opened vs. closed headphones, some of that is sound quality related and some of it is function. Do you need isolation from the ambient sounds around you? Do you need to keep the sound from leaking out and bothering people around you? Open cans have open backs (see HD650/600..etc.) and sound will leak in and out. I prefer open cans at worl since I'm far enough away from people to have the sound of my headphones bother them, but I need to hear the phone if it rings. Some closed cans don't isolate well either. The ATH-ESW9 does not so it's OK. Headroom typically has graphs of isolation for various headphone models. They might not be perfect real world numbers, but it will give you an idea. Just an extreme example: The Shure SE530 attenuates the ambient noise much more than the open HD650. Graphs: http://www.headphone.com/technical/product-measurements/build-a-graph/

  20. I prefer Bottlehead's Cable rack myself. Potentially NSFW: http://www.bottlehead.com/et/cable/bottleheadcable.htm I asked my wife once, but she just walked away.
  21. there's a free service called yofrog. It's a chat room for iphone/ipod touch users...well you can set up your own rooms. It saves the conversations so you can view all entries. If you're interested, I've set up a Head-Case room....room access is by invitation. http://yofrog.com/

There is another company that operates similar to FPE. I keep losing the link and name, Justin pointed them out to me at one point. Apparently they will take FPE files as well. The guy running it used to work for FPE I think? Something like that, I'll see what I can dig up. I've got to have a URL somewhere. However, the prices are probably similar to FPE, perhaps a little cheaper.

For drilling through aluminum a step bit is helpful as well as a tabletop drill press. You can find step bits at a local hardware store, Unibit is typically what Lowes and Home Depot stock...they are available via online vendors as well. Another option is panel punches. Greenlee makes some good ones. They are limited to one size per punch, so you need to get a few sizes and they are a bit pricey. But if you're going to do a lot of case work they come in handy.
