The Headcase Stax thread
I'm a huge fan of the Planet. Not the last word in detail, but it's got everything else in spades (prat, impact, bass, euphony, analog-y-ness...and most important, listenability -- I actually had a pre-2K Planet for the longest time as my primary player).

Best SS-amp Today; Cost NO Object?
Well...given my/our history, your assumption -- however incorrect -- was not entirely unwarranted. I, of all people, probably need [sincere][/sincere] tags (the counterpoint to the [sarcasm][/sarcasm] tags).

Nice impressions; I like fast/impactful/detailed. Which Rega?

Yes, that is what I meant -- extant DAC now, upgrade DAC later.

Best SS-amp Today; Cost NO Object?
If I understand it correctly: amp now, DAC later? Makes perfect sense.

Program for burning WAVS/FLACs to CD-R
I know, but its strength is in the accuracy of its ripping, not in the accuracy of its burning. I suspect that in burning, it's no more accurate than anything else, but I'll gladly be proven wrong. And I believe I was one of the people to mention its burning capabilities, so that wasn't meant to be a slight against EAC -- I use it primarily as well.

Except that the question was specifically towards burning, not ripping.

They probably don't understand the concept of "furries", neither. Obviously: scientists.

On HD650s and speaker amps...
Are you using the same source? If so, wouldn't that imply that it's not the input nor gain stages?

Source for my R10
That 3910 isn't a steal, but it's a fair price, I think. I've been extremely happy with my SACDMods-modded Denon, and their prices are much more competitive that Modwright Exemplar et al. You can get a 3930 brand new factory sealed for ~US$1K (that was with 5 seconds of Googling, I'm sure you can do better), plus the SACDMods mods will double your price, will still be well within your price range. I think Hirsch has a Modwright -modded Denon for his source, and he's extremely happy with it, I think. (And I mention it because his can of choice is the R10.)

New Nine Inch Nails Album free download
Actually, the DVD-V spec allows for up to 24/96 stereo, and depending on the software you buy, you could burn it that way. But computer -> external DAC -> stereo is a much better solution.

What are you EATING right now?
Oh, I know how, we just aren't set up to do so (no deck, no patio to speak of). Oh, and no grill.

If you're a Mac guy; if you're a PC guy then discWelder is probably the way to go.

It's the right time of the year for it (my ex did all the grilling). I miss grilled food.
