  1. Going back to your original post: Sounds like you just need the drivers. Here's what I'd do: if I was hell bent on running XP, and I had no-one to help me (in my case, I'm fortunate enough to have an intarwebz-savvy housemate, or I could go to Hirsch for help), I'd get one of those Linux try-before-you-install disks, and use that to download the drivers. Or just install linux and say fuck it to Microsoft. But I guess that depends on what you're going to use the computer for.
  2. What are your favourite disks from this year so far? Mine: !!!, Myth Takes The Secret Meeting, Ultrashiver More that I'm forgetting, but these are the flyaway top two.
  3. The main character victim in the third one made the cop look like Sydney Poitier in comparison -- I had zero sympathy going for him, he shoulda fell and broke his neck when he worked his way out of the box. I actually really liked the second one -- I thought it was on par with the first one -- maybe not Aliens/Alien good, but on par, at least. But now knowing how much you hate the cop and the woman so much, no wonder you liked the third one.
  4. I am neither, but I'll answer -- probably because it's not an ASCII character. The database interface probably isn't set to store non-ASCII characters. Just a guess from a nosy bystander.
  5. (bites lip and silently smiles) So, JBLoudG20, what did you think of it? How can something be interesting and ...well, you didn't say it wasn't good, neither...?
  6. Because 99% of the time, the only thing I need it for is signing checks and stuff. It's not the pen, it's the pen operator. And that's not meant as a criticism -- I have terrible handwriting, worse than most, probably worse than yours. I just happen to know that to improve your cursive, you should probably just practice writing in cursive. Practice makes perfect. I held a pen on Saturday night that I actually now want. Ballpoint, too.
  7. I want a Benchmade...
  8. I can do it, but not in the digital domain: Alesis ML-9600 Masterlink One can also do the same thing one does with vinyl -- rip it to a computer with an external soundcard.
  9. On a more serious note -- Elaine Walker from Zia was amazing. The first time I met her, I made the mistake of assuming she didn't have a brain because she was so beautiful -- I have since been corrected on the matter -- I almost joined her band just to learn from her. I wish there were pictures of her with her duct-tape outfit somewhere on the net. Unfortunately, she "retired" from the music business just before the age of MySpace -- I think that would have shot them into the next tier of popularity, at least. Alas, looks like all her sites are down -- best one can do is google her and find images in google cache.
  10. Denon D5000 using a modified balanced 4-pin connection out of thrice's Beta-22 has some of the best bass I've ever heard -- I'd love to hear a modified-for-balanced PS-1 out of that thing -- the PS-1 is pretty out-of-control with most amps. It's a bit much. It needs a total dominatrix of an amp not to sound bloated.
  11. Even worse, it doesn't have that classic iPod interface with the pseudo spinny circle. WTH would anyone buy one of those things for?
  12. That's what the preview button is for.
  13. Myleene Klass -- I have no idea whether or not she's any good, I just got this image by doing an image google search on "boobies".
  14. Where is the "I don't care" option? I don't own out of print phones as an investment, I own them because they're good headphones. And because headphone manufacturers are idiots and stop making really good headphones (I'm especially thinking of the Grado HP-1000 series and the AKG K1000's). And it's not because they're out of print that I covet (for example) the K1000's -- it's because they're really good headphones. Also, I have some out-of-print headphones that are not coveted so much -- do you know why? Because headphones came out -- in some cases, by the same company (Beyerdynamic, Sennheiser) -- that does everything mine does, but better, at the same or better price, rendering these headphones unsalable to any but the most desparate buyer. Well, also because I'm too lazy to sell them.
  15. You mean, it has a built-in headphone amp? At this point, I am just mocking you.
  16. Gas -- paid $2.669 for it, too! (I'm pleased -- the average in the MD/DC/VA area is ~$3.) Woodbridge Wawa by Potomac Mills, before you ask.
  17. Boris is a chick? J/K... I always thought Boris was a he. Boris is a they?
  18. You mean, not plugged into anything?
  19. Actually, he was really good about tubes when I bought some from him a couple months ago.
  20. I know this question wasn't directed at me, but definitely -- I've headbanged them to the point where the cord was strangling me. (I start with my head going back, apparently, and at home, my amp is to my right. I now keep my cord behind me when I think about it.)
  21. I don't think it has anything to do with solid state amp at all -- the first thing I listened to them out of when I got them recently was my Creek OBH-11SE, and I don't think they're bright at all. Now the Sony MDR-7506/-V6 -- now they are bright. Perhaps it's which house sound one is more used to? But that doesn't make sense, I'm neither a Grado Guy nor a Sennheiser ...erm... Sapien.
  22. Actually, Hirsch sold his, so he is no longer a current owner; he is a former owner. As is Juan (cd44hi).
  23. Glad you got one without me having to sell you mine. I concur.
  24. You know, I'm not a DIYer, but they're still porn to me.
  25. One of those have multiple catalogs -- I think it's the Elusive Disk one. You need some true porn ones -- Markertek, B&H Photo, etc.
