  1. Another choice
  2. So far, so good -- still have power, no broken windows, really glad I live on a top floor right now WRT flooding.
  3. Damnit, I've been misled.
  4. Steve Hackett & co. (including someone whom I am friends with on Facebook, Dave Kerzner (?sp) -- who also does some killer sushi. Let's see -- mad keyboard skills, plays with my heroes, and can make sushi -- yeah, I'm jealous), Genesis Revisited II Love some of the choices, even played some vintage Steve Hackett (Tower Struck Down, Shadow of the Hierophant -- the latter, in particular, pleases me because ( a ) one of mah personal favourites, and ( b ) I was at a concert where one particularly boisterous fan kept demanding it, and Steve [yes, I am on a first-name basis] finally responded, "can't, don't have a soprano" [or something to that effect], to which the boisterous -- and very male -- fan responded, "I'll do it" and promptly launched into the first line in falsetto -- and might I say, note-perfect -- and I have to wonder if that very memorable incident prompted this revisit).
  5. Good to hear. The army's not in charge of weather?
  6. I don't blame Colin, but he got out just in time -- I want to know how he knew. EDIT: Oh, and my sister just let me know she's moving tomorrow. "No big deal, I'll 'rough' it." I just sent her a horrific text of everything we're expecting tomorrow ending with "...I'd postpone..."
  7. Nice use of mint green to make the sound seem antiseptic. The frequency plots look warm, however.
  8. Because biamping is moar bettah?
  9. Active -- before the amplifier -- in this case, would have been done in the digital realm Passive -- after the amplifier Non active -- passive
  10. Mr. Cat I need to get me an electric piano. And finish learning bass. And be good at writing catchy shit.
  11. Wishing everyone luck, including myself. I'll be realistic -- here's to hoping that the power outages and wind damage is minimal. Mostly, no broken windows or water leakage. I'm going to go to bed early (for me) tonight, in hopes of getting to a more-or-less daylight schedule by the time the power outage is only a day or two old.
  12. So he'd basically fighting his own actions, albeit a previous incarnation of himself?
  13. To answer my own question, I took this advice, and the answer is yes. You can configure a variety of mixdown options just by turning certain speakers off, as well as the ability to change 'size' and distance. So yes, it seems to be a fully functional pre-pro, other than the lack of analog inputs.
  14. Addendum: Mrs. Voltron: What?
  15. I bet if you just got enough powered speakers and set them up in a circle and closed your eyes, it'd be close enough.
  16. Happy Beerfday! (party favour noise)
  17. Eric -- can it do phantom center? I.E. redirect the center channel to the front left + right?
  18. I did that once or twice (full volume through amp to speakers). Of course, without the burning holes through the tweeters part.
  19. Voltron (to Mrs. Voltron): (shrugs, smiles) Time to get new speakers?
  20. So, theoretically, with the crossover in the earpiece, yet separated, they could still correct for phase in the DSP -- so is that what freqphase is doing? Sounds like the best of both worlds -- one can still use the JH13 or JH16 by itself with any amp one wants, or with the JH3A and get the DSP correction (but then stuck with the internal amps). Best of all three worlds would be to have the ability to swap in amps and DACs. Four worlds. I don't know, maybe he should just release the code. But then one would have to be able to drive multiple DACs with different sources, so this isn't a Windows based system.
  21. Me, too. Although it's just an EP so it's already over half over. I should probably decide what I'm listening to next. PS Great name -- hint, look at the lips sideways. Also: not the best representation -- take, for example, Elizabeth Banks' Hunger Games character's lips as a slightly better example. EDIT: Now playing, Ivy, All Hours -- great poppy pop, this is poppy. Soon: Plumb -- I don't know, something. Then back to Klaus Schulze.
  22. Okay, this was news to me. When did this happen? EDIT: And yeah, what Birgir said -- what's the point of the JH3A? I thought they had some kind of bandpass filter in the JH3A that out-and-out moved into the digital realm, so that therefore the two were no longer compatible, I.E. you needed the DSP to do at least that part. Also, how are they going to freqphase anything in the analog realm, I just assumed by this that it was going to be in the digital realm -- isn't it? This sounds like what they were originally shooting for. I'm a just gonna have to PM him. He's on here, right?
