  1. I think he was hoping someone would fax him some whiskey for his drunken stupor.
  2. Well shit, why doesn't he just bend space so that it's downhill both ways, a la Escher.
  3. I actually kind of like some of them.
  4. I think I still have my Clou. I doubt I could sell it now anyway.
  5. Okay, I didn't know. There's nothing 'slightly off-kilter' about this, this is as mainstream as it gets. I didn't realize this was the "Marry You" guy. God I hate that song, and I don't even know why. It just ruined the rest of the album for me, I tried to skip it, but I just couldn't bring myself to listen to the rest of the album. (shudders involuntarily) Okay, this turned into more of a "what am I not listening to" post.
  6. Hurray, he's back!
  7. So where are you again, Seattle? I know I'd never get a stick in the DC area (I hate manual transmission for stop-and-go), but what's the traffic like out there? Something to keep in mind. 'cause you could always get something cheap and reasonable. Like a Mazdaspeed3 or a Honda Civic hatchback.
  8. He's not posting, so my theory is that he had to switch to vinyl at some point. I just hope it was towards the end. We suck at sending good DJ vibes!
  9. Getting an adapter loses the benefit of going balanced from the amp to the headphones, so no, don't do that. But it looks like Nate already has it under control, so that's all I wanted to pipe in/append with. For future reference, there are companies (e.g. Headroom) that will sell you pre-terminated-as-balanced cables -- look, they even have a balanced HD650 cable.
  10. So I'd have to transfer my SIM card...wait, I don't have a SIM card? Yes, want. Will look into it. Thanks.
  11. Lollers -- that would have been faster than 99% of USA, but it's only faster than 90% of Japan.
  12. Incorrect. I didn't hate the Droid after a year, and I got it 'cause it was free.
  13. I blame smartphones/Facebook/Foursquare/YouTube/de-evolution. But to be fair, in the DC area, that's always been the case, it's just gotten worse recently. My earplugs do a pretty good job of blocking out vocal content without blocking out the ridiculously amplified music.
  14. Yeah, we don't talk about headphones any more, just drinking. Kidding; welcome back; etc. If memory serves, recabling is necessary, but nothing stands out. The biggest difference is going from stock to pretty much any decent upgrade cable. I prefer the Cardas, but that's MHO. Sure wouldn't hurt to get a balanced one to go with your amp. 4 pin XLR? Might see if one of the DIY guys would solder something together for you. And yes, if you're going for comfort, you can't do much better than the Sennheiser HD600/HD580/HD650. Excellent choice.
  15. Was: A Thing called Divine Fits Is: Hot Chip, In Our Heads Should Be: Bruno Mars Just in a poppy/groovy/slightly off-kilter mood
  16. Mike still hates them.
  17. It's really fucking bad, and so is my eyesight. The latter is getting worse every day. I couldn't tell the difference between porn and emoticons without glasses. Seriously considering seeing if I qualify for Lasik. I have to admit, the touchscreen (and the phone, for that matter) is finally beginning to fail and I am looking at getting a new one, but thinking of going cheap and getting a Pantech Marauder or Lucid or Rhyme or some such.
  18. Finished Season 2 of Sherlock.
  19. I still have an original Droid. Ever think of wiping your fingers before you touch your touchscreen, Mr. Greasy? Yes, this is I-feel-like-ragging-on-Brent day.
  20. (squints) So what is it you drive again, Mr. Armchair Critic?
  21. I like the recent Mustangs just because I like the idea of a 5.0 in that size car. I have actually said to a complete stranger, "how do you keep it on the ground?" "Spoiler."
  22. Good thoughts Ken's kitty's way.
  23. They don't (make sense to me neither, that is). I don't understand at all how the (current) DSP-corrected JH-13's can sound any different than (current) DSP-corrected JH-16's. Don't they both have ranges well outside of human hearing? Phase delay and psychology notwithstanding.
  24. Pfff -- punters ride Segways.
  25. No-one expects their first batch to be good enough to share, so the fact that it was is a good sign, but not all that surprising considering the source. That pasta dish sounds really good, too. I had an outstanding dish earlier tonight at Tommy Thai. It started out as their "garden" (meat and vegetables), then made extremely garlicky and medium spicy. Outstanding. (Dan -- that's in Springfield -- I've also discovered a really great place in Merrifield called Elephant Jumps that I can highly recommend.)
