What are you reading now?
Don't worry, Ari, I hated Catcher in the Rye, too. I just didn't "get" it. It's slice-of-life shit, the book equivalent of mumble-core. And I think you should send all of that to her. If she asked about books, that means that's important to her. But leave something to talk about, so maybe not. I really need to re-read Catch-22. I reference it so often, I think it's become a different thing, like "Peter's view of Catch-22", rather than the actual book.

So sorry to hear about your ankle, Vicki. Hope it heals up quickly. Congrats, Mike. Continue to feel better, Jacob and Shelly.

Audio Furniture Recommendation
It doesn't have to be glass, they got that whole Fusion Nebula thing, a bunch of rocks, a bunch of woods... But I think you should get Steve to do it.

I really like the Billy Bags look, but I have to admit that shit is pricey.

Computer buying help
So I'm not going to bore you with all the details, but I'm looking at getting a new laptop, and the 1920x1080-on-a-15-inch-screen-or-smaller technology has been around long enough that my choices have expanded beyond 2 or 3 companies since last time. Where would I go to get advice? I.E. I'm looking at MSI, Toshiba, and HP Envy, and I don't know if these are better or worse (than, for example, my current Sony) in terms of ruggedness, value-for-the-dollar, intelligently chosen chipset combinations, etc. I would, of course, prefer better. As much as I like Sony, I know it's not famously the top brand, I'm just partial to it from experience.

Heckling Help. I think I've come to the right place for ideas.
If someone doesn't hit something soon, I'm going to reach over and dunk myself. And then you can get all dada-ist and respond in an entirely different direction: Do you kiss your mama with that mouth? Here, maybe this will help -- pretend it's your mama. Because I'd hit that. You throw like your face. This water isn't going to come up and surround me. This babe ain't dunking herself. The breeze will keep me cool, 'cause it sure as hell ain't going to be the water.

back to Elfenstaub -- so totally digging this, it's the type of music I associate with Knucks DJing. That reminds me, I need to remember to listen if he's DJing tonight.

I.E. the outer sleeve? Ah, I see now... Me: The Real Tuesday Weld, The Last Werewolf soundtrack -- wow, this is really different than everything else he's done. Gonna have to put it off in lieu of instrumental stuff while I'm at work.

's'truth. But that makes it moar Jeff's type of mall. Do you know they have a restaurant that sells only one thing -- cheesecakes?

Holy cow, I can't believe I've lived this long over all the rocks* and never seen this. I'm so used to it being yellow. * I.E. not under a rock.

(squints) Why is it fucsia? Me: Fear and the Nervous System -- kinda post-metal, lead singer sounds like he's constantly on the verge of howling Nu-Metal style, but he keeps it just barely reigned in. Me likey. RIYL Neurosis, Giant Squid, The Ocean (Collective), et al. There's some really nice clean singing in there, too, not something I would normally associate with the genre.
