  1. I don't remember any bagpipes, but I've only heard one album, need to track down the other two. Check out While Heaven Wept's most recent album -- progressive metal.
  2. Oh, I would even go so far as to say that it's at least 10K cool...it's just too bad I don't have 10k.
  3. Well, they have three different sizes; the one I saw was not imposing at all.
  4. People leave their phones at bars all the time. Especially if they had it out and showing it off. Hey look, I have a phone that no-one else has -- documentably.
  5. The Shure is a good "beater" headphone, you'll want to keep it as a backup.
  6. Okay, coolest thing ever. It even has a date. See the little "V" thingy? That's the Vestal watch logo. It's also the date. They had the movement modified so that all it shows is black. Okay, no, not really. Oh, and Dinny, I forgot to mention -- I saw your blue-on-black Bell & Ross "instrument" at Torneau in person.
  7. I suspect the cat thinks that that day was very productive.
  8. I'd recommend an external phono box, myself, but grawk's suggestion is just as valid. Probably something the friend should decide.
  9. Myrath -- progressive metal (cleanly sung, albeit with quarter tones) at its finest
  10. And on an unrelated note, I think I saw Stephen's beer at Total Wine the other day:
  11. Damnit, I was just in Wegman's, and they had Left Hand. Speaking of "reviews" -- anyone have any favorite blogs or websites? Beer Advocate seems to pop up in my searches for information often, and Total Wine tends to quote them when they do well there.
  12. There's no reason to compromise on HDMI. I wouldn't rule out Onkyo, neither. TX-SR607, or 608 if he can wait.
  13. The video you has shot is too short, please show more octopus underarm closeups.
  14. Victory Storm King has been acquired. Lancaster? I did not know this. What season? I'm still not having any trouble finding them.
  15. I have to admit, I've seen a vanilla porter or two, and haven't been able to bring myself to buy it yet. Even though I have a sweet tooth.
  16. Actually, if you want stock closed, you should go for the 40's -- same drivers, closed design. And yes, they're worth playing with.
  17. Exactly.
  18. Bananas. My favorite.
  19. I just bought another one. lolwut? Why would they make your wrist thinner? Tiger (before he was infamous, when he was just famous) worked with Tag to design a special low-profile watch that was designed not to throw off his swing. It's only US$1200.
  20. Oh, and at work I've been going through the ECM box sets and the Blue Note reissue series on SACD. Or Impulse! or whatever the one that's almost finished is going on. The cast on that is insane -- it's basically a who's who of pretty much every non-metal female singer I listen to.
  21. Yeah, I only mentioned the RP's, 'cause they could still be had for <US$100, IIRC.
  22. Dogfish Head -- I missed that the "World Wide" was a stout, will get one. Grawk -- don't...just...don't bother mentioning stuff I can't get like Life & Limb, m'kay? semi-local -- Ah, typical useful alcoholic response -- "I don't remember what this stuff was, but it was real good." Srsly -- let me know when you remember, please. There were a couple of milk stouts that looked tempting, don't remember if I got any, though. I want to say Duck Rabbit?
  23. I'm going to get all hippie and say, "thinking good and safe vibes in your general direction, man". Thank you for your service. Srsly.
  24. Great Lakes Blackout Stout has been added to the list. (I'll also have to check through all my "to try" singles to see if I haven't already bought one. Sounds familiar.) What are the feelings on the new Sierra Nevada 30th Anniversary Ales? I got the first one -- it was good, but not outstanding. Worth it just for the corked bottle, though, so I bought a couple more. Better than most everything else I had -- most of the corked bottle varieties that I've found have been Belgian whites, which I'm not as fond of. I am definitely tending towards the "rich" side of the palette spectrum.
