  1. Damn, you make that sound really appealing... (wanders off to check it out)
  2. a certain mix
  3. A couple books and magazines, some of which were Christmas presents A couple bottles of wine from world market Need to get another shelf for mah wine rack Hello Kitty Candy And if all goes well this time, a new graphics card and memory for one of my computers
  4. I disagree that the e4c's, in particular, are easy to drive. These are one pair of IEM's that benefit from proper amplification.
  5. I had something similar happen recently. Sucks. And I just realized last night that I had lost my PIN (which I haven't memorized yet). Off to the bank I go. If you're Chevy Chase, they're great to deal with. Feel free to ask for advice. Me: tried to buy a Dual-DVI & CUDA compatible video card and memory for my computer last night. Got rejected for some reason. I hope it's not that again. I hope it's just because of something else.
  6. It's nice to see you remembering your roots. KIDDING Seriously, that was pretty generous of you, Billy. I got an email from my boss.
  7. Oliver Lieb rules.
  8. Do you know who were the VERY special surprise guests?
  9. A man after my own heart. I've actually given that advice to other musicians -- make music interesting enough that even if no-one shows up, you still want to play it.
  10. Acoustic Treatment and Design for Recording Studios and Listening Rooms He had some preplanned rooms somewhere on his site or on his forum that follow Aerius' suggestion -- you'd be surprised by how little room you lose -- but I can't find them right now. It's not a continuous taper, you can taper in sort of a terraced approach, ends up having a sawtooth look to it. I mean, you're going to lose a little bit of space anyway, since garage walls are thinner than house walls -- you're going to have to build them out into the room anyway. Unless you completely demolish the room and start over, which shouldn't be necessary. Also -- as much as he seems to know about room acoustics, he doesn't seem to know (or care to know) anything about soundproofing, so don't go to him for advice in that area. He specializes in minimizing reflections, mostly bass reflections. Another suggestion: humidity control. And I don't mean just get a dehumidifier -- there's a way to design a room to let it "breathe", so you don't have airflow nulls where humidity will accumulate -- make sure that whomever you hire knows this already.
  11. Yeah, I think they're more "alternative" than "indie".
  12. 6 pack of 2008 Anchor Seasonal Brew
  13. Etymotic ER-6i meet everything but the comfort factor. True IEM's -- the kind you stick into the canal, rather than buds -- take some getting used to. I have had them in for an hour or so at a time, but yeah my ear feels kind of violated after that. But they excel in all the other areas so well -- isolation, sound quality, without an amp -- that I still recommend them. And you should be able to land them for less than $100 new, so if he decides to move on, it won't hurt too much.
  14. Hurray for non-dumbass delurkers! Welcome to head-case, sorry about your thin skin and perhaps the back of your head, but I don't think you have to worry about the latter.
  15. On another site I frequent, Trader Joe's Two Buck Chuck (which, admittedly, is more like 3 bucks) is getting a lot of recommendations. Especially the Shiraz. So it'd probably be worth trying, at least.
  16. I don't know squat about Roman politics, so I'd probably call him Bert Mustard.
  17. ...unless you keep a spreadsheet.
  18. Yes. I actually liked the SA5000 better. I'm one of those who probably never got a good fit with the Qualias, but the person (Juan) who was letting me listen to his SA5000 did a real good job of making sure I got a good fit with those.
  19. Kinda ugly? Are you kidding? He's gorgeous. I mean, I know he looks like a white cat covered in soot, but...I don't know, just makes me want to pick him up and hug him.
  20. I would up the priority of the record cleaning system. It's a must. Just make it part of the ritual of playing records, don't think of it as a tweak.
  21. Lookin' great, Smeggy.
  22. Perhaps it's DRM'd -- what's the title?
  23. If I ever get another striped-ish cat, I was going to call her Scribbles.
  24. The BHSE is easily some of the best sound I've ever heard.
