  1. My favorite place to eat in Tom's area is Bones. Awesome buffalo fillet, awesome wine list.
  2. My wife's shoe budget is almost nothing
  3. What I liked best about this place is it had lamb and squid. So I made the weirdest combo ever, every time. Lamb and Squid, with broccoli, rice noodles, and schezuan sauce and chilis
  4. No one else has to fret, I'm single handedly making hte population problem worse.
  5. dusty, had you eaten there before I suggested it? My favorite place to eat around here is home, because I live in a farm town. The only restaurants I've tried are chick-fil-a, a pizza place, subway, wendy's, and a mediocre japanese steak house. My favorite place to eat in the dc metro, where i work, is kaz sushi, which is in foggy bottom. The price fixe dinner is spectacular. I mostly ate at thai pillin and the mongolian bbq charlie chiang's in reston when I lived down there.
  6. warm rice, cold mango slices is best
  7. Amount of money spent since reading todd rose's signature
  8. I love motorcycles. Love them. Been riding since I was 14 years old. Amazing experience, it's a good one. But the problem isn't the top speed on a bike like that. It's how fast it gets there. Miss the brake one, or forget to release the gas while grabbing the brake, and things get bad FAST. Sportbikes are amazing. A joy to ride. Like nothing else. But they're not cars, they're not bicycles, they aren't even regular motorcycles. They're awe inspiring. Respect that. A HUGE percentage of bike wrecks happen with new riders on sportbikes.
  9. you can get a used bike for $500. That's cheap insurance. You're gonna wreck your first bike. You really want that wreck to 1) happen with a cheap bike, and 2) not happen at 145.
  10. Buy a much smaller bike used, ride it for 6 months, then get back on that one. Really. I'm not trying to be preachy. I have been riding for over 20 years, and a couple of years ago I got on a modern sportbike and it had enough power that it scared the shit out of me. You need your instincts to be good and sound before you get to where a mistake puts you at 140 instead of 50mph.
  11. got lots of riding experience already?
  12. Chesky has a few good ear training samplers that are available, and that also have good music on them

  15. I actually like the SR71 a lot with ER4Ps. It's overpriced, but still very good, in my opinion.

    have you met dusty?
  17. That was the first time I'd watched the office. It's very brittish, I like it.
  18. I think Todd said something along the lines of "Pete builds them to order" while Pete was standing there.
  19. As a bonus, it's hand made by the man himself, pete millett.
  20. If you're at all into punk, X (the real X, punk band from LA, in the 80s) is on tour http://www.xtheband.com/13-31.html
  21. Completely outside the realm of discussion for whether you'd want to imod, the ipod battery isn't terribly hard to change, and in 4 years, you'll want to upgrade anyway. The battery issue is a strawman. I've replaced ipod batteries, it takes less than 5 minutes, and costs less than $30.
  22. The cables they show on the website are on occasion a lot nicer looking than what you get shipped to you.
  23. I'd find it amusing to put some cheap tubes on the m3 just connected to a heater to make it have a pretty glow without it actually being in the circuit at all...
