  1. My preference with cocktails is almost always towards the less sweet. Looks tasty.
  2. The GS-X is an amazing amp IMO. I was always surprised it was not more popular. I guess it needs a huge gold knob.
  3. Ron Zacapa worked well for me. Have a lime in reserve, it worked well. We are having our second Wiess beer in honor of Karen's grandmother who died last night in Munich at the age of 93. Cheers Frau Edith Werner, to you and an amazing life.
  4. @GPH - take it easy man. Glad everything is OK, but accidents do suck. @MPI - Good job on the dog rescue. @HPA - Are you chipped?
  5. Wow, bad luck Jeff.
  6. It makes an awesome Cuba Libre. Just sayin'.
  7. As well it should.
  8. A couple of predinner Gale Force Vespers.
  9. Most of the issues people seem to have is because they're either too fucking lazy or stupid to go into preferences to set things up. Especially the gestures STFU and turn them off if they bother you.
  10. Maddeningly stupid and senseless.
  11. I have and really like the Yoobao leather case. No screen protection but you can get one of those clingy things that I hate. Sorry I have not dropped my cased iPad or made it jump off my nightstand.
  12. Well I am nt sure you are going to get much information. You have a vintage can that not too many people have heard. Like many vintage headphones it also shows a lot of variation among units so we really do not know what yours sound like. I think you already have the best answer a reasonable person can give you, other vintage or current AKGs.
  13. Could be an interesting signature cocktail. Can you drink it and survive two life threatening ingredients.
  14. So does a Black Mamba, but I wouldn't recommend either.
  15. The Monte Carlo looks good but Casablanca with the SFO sounds awesome. Have fun Al. Having a Gale Force Vesper with the gin courtesy of Messrs Dunhill and Guise. Cheers gents.
  16. I would definitely stay away from Old Overholt. Rittenhouse 100 is pretty good for an inexpensive rye. Looks like some Sazerac making at Chateau le Fitz.
  17. Nice selection! I haven't tried the Double Rye, keep us informed.
  18. I find the Blackwoods a smooth gin in much the same way Sazerac 18 is a smooth rye. They both lack some of the bite of their relatives. Having said that I have not used the Blackwoods in a G&T. Plus I rarely measure my anything and tonic but my guess is it probably is around a 2:1 ratio.
  19. Yeah I think if you used a dark rum and an Anejo tequila you could lose the cola.
  20. Just think of the little fingers of mischief. It has worked for me so far. This last thread turn has been hard though because I love the Regas. Congrats Ric.
  21. I use a Waterfield Designs sleevecase because they are classy and so is the MBA.
  22. I'm pretty sure that Long Island Iced Tea always had a bit of cola for coloring. The following is from Esquire. Did you know it's National Iced Tea Month? Didn't think so. But this occasion gives us a chance to reconsider one of the most maligned summer cocktails in American history, the Long Island Iced Tea, which has been the butt of jokes everywhere from New York speakeasies to The Simpsons. It's known less as a drink than a way of getting drunk: a sugary but powerfully alcoholic concoction of cola and just about every house liquor behind the bar. But is it really that bad? Recently, it seems like bartenders have backed away from ritual mocking of the drink. You can find a version at David Chang's Ma Peche in New York City, and even Ina Garten makes her own variation. According to Esquire drinks correspondent David Wondrich, enjoying a Long Island is all about not taking yourself too seriously: "It's not the worst drink in existence. It is, however, strong and trashy." Which means, yes, you should probably be drinking something else, but as long as you're doing it, you might as well do it right. Wondrich has his own "fancy" version, which is like the classic but with better brands. You can find the recipe below. Just don't blame him for what happens — this isn't one he likes to claim responsibility for. "As a proud-ish son of Long Island, I wish it had been invented on the Jersey Shore." The David Wondrich Long Island Iced Tea Shake well with plenty of ice: 1/2 oz Absolut vodka 1/2 oz Beefeater gin 1/2 oz Don Q white rum 1/2 oz Milagro blanco tequila 1/2 oz Cointreau 1/2 oz fresh lemon juice 2 teaspoons simple syrup (equal parts water and sugar) Strain into an ice-filled Collins glass. Top off with 1/2 oz Coca-Cola. Garnish with a lemon wedge and add a straw.
