Finally got the universal plug adapter today so I could listen to my ET1000, only to find there's a fucking channel imbalance. There's a number of issues it could be, like it not being charged up or possibly the little bit of fabric damping in the front (the side with less volume has it while the other side is partially removed). Could be the adapter too. Sigh, I wish I didn't have to troubleshoot almost every single pair of headphones I've gotten. Sounds like an SR-X mk3 on uber steroids, though.

I like the sound of $0.01... *goes to find CDs on ebay*

Sounds more bitter than sweet. Sorry to hear of all your troubles, and I'm sure you'll make the right decision in regards to your children.

Yeah, that's pretty much how my face would look if they made me wear that thing.

Ran 2 miles on a treadmill yesterday. No way in hell I could have run 2 real miles since I run about 2 times a year. I need to get more fit.

Just saw the price. What the eff, there are dozens of headphones I'd rather have that can be had for under $100USD. And I can't even imagine how stupid it would feel to belt some shitty headphones to your side and walk around with them, and how likely they'd be damaged doing so.

This. Not to mention the PCOCC hand wiring to make your mp3s sound warm and other bullshit. And it's definitely not an ortho, way uglier (apparently it is possible) and the sensitivity is way too high.

Interesting. I had some trouble with earbuds staying in my ears but after my Yuin OK3 was mangled/destroyed I stopped caring.

Something about mass-damping the frame with some bitumen, and I think there were a couple of other things bjarnetv did I need to look up. I will also need to replace the foam that goes over the head and will play around with different materials instead of the thin foam rectangles that go on both sides of the drivers. In fact some of the pics I see of peoples' Jecklins don't even have those foam rectangles and the drivers are just bare (well, they still dustcovers, of course). It really doesn't take much to damp a 'stat, as you know.
-
Interesting, thanks for the info and pics. I'd have at least kept the dustcovers in, even if I knew I was about to croak. Good luck with the re-modding if you choose to do it! Speaking of modding electrostat speakers, I'm finally about to get around to modding my Jecklin 'stats and will go back and search for your posts on it.

A decent amount of people seem to prefer the cleartop. I've got 20 (?) 12AU7/As laying around and have no idea about tubes so don't know which ones are the same internally. Oh, and I have no amps to use them on. Just counted. 21.

Great to hear! I've invited a couple other people including a few musician friends but it's not likely that they'll come. I really need to move to NYC and spend all my gear monies on concerts instead. Working on it...

Ah thanks, free wifi/power is always a plus. I've tried DC2NY which wasn't bad and also offered wifi and Greyhound which wasn't so great, and expensive to boot. You wouldn't happen to be interested in coming, would you?

Schubert Sonatas for violin & piano

Almost up to current! I suspect 15 Steps may not fair so well on vinyl at least for the lesser setups like mine, but the album In Rainbows is fantastic. Amnesiac is good, too.

Dammit, sometimes I need to just learn to keep my mouth shut. I just set myself up again, didn't I...

^ Nice. I really like a nice deep shade of purple. A universal wall plug adapter so I can actually use my ET1000, or rather, N1000.

Great! The concert starts at 7:30pm (technically, he said the concert would be 8-10) so we'd still have to leave pretty early... at maybe 2:30pm. Not sure about trains but there are plenty of buses from DC to NY, for example BoltBus https://www.boltbus.com/ which has departure time 3pm and arrival time 7:15pm. I might take the College Park metro down to DC. Driving is another possibility for sure, but driving around and parking in NYC is kind of a bitch. Still got a couple weeks to figure out logistics... http://www.carnegiehall.org/article/box_office/events/evt_12303.html?selecteddate=02122010 Tickets are $34

You gonna come up to Carnegie Hall with me Friday night, provided I am able to make it?

Hey guys, I was just invited to a concert by the pianist of the ATOS Trio who I personally know, and just wanted to let you guys know the dates and cities they're touring. February 12 New York, NY February 14 San Antonio, TX February 16 Cincinnati, OH February 17 Cerritos, CA February 19 Carmel, CA February 20 San Diego, CA February 21 Mill Valley, CA Program: Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy - Trio No.2 in c-minor, op.66 Gaspar Cassado - Trio in C-Major Franz Schubert - Trio No.2 in Eb-Major, op.100 The best chamber group I've heard live. The pianist is stunning, and the best accompanist I've ever had the pleasure of working with by far. I've heard the Guarneri Quartet who were in residency at my school and have even been coached by most of the members in it but caught them in their last few years, and they just disbanded. I'm going to try to make it to the NY one at Carnegie, Weill Recital Hall.

Ooh, are you moving onto speakers now as well? It's only a matter of time, really... well, and space. And funds.
