  1. Naked is the best way to listen to the K1000. I get certain tingly sensations I never felt before in certain parts of my body.
  2. [Duggeh]Indeed.[/Duggeh]
  3. So according to that chart, we are a content population, as generous as we are unimpoverished, and we love to kill people.
  4. Does. Not. Compute. *head asplode*
  5. One pad definitely looks thicker than the other. The thinner one doesn't really look angled, though, which I think it should. Probably trying to mimic Stax pads which are also thinner in the front and thicker in the back. Well, some of them.
  6. It's a good headphone.
  7. HC FOTM! Congrats!
  8. It did. Thankfully I'm not squeamish. Made me realize I didn't really want to work in a lab. Definitely not just because of that, though, it's one of several reasons.
  9. Heh, I interned at the FDA a couple of years ago, and the experiment I was working on involved anesthetizing a rabbit, removing its eyes, and then killing it with lethal injection.
  10. You'll have to be a bit sadistic and/or masochistic to enjoy this (I am), just found it from clicking around from the above video:
  11. .
  12. I totally agree that sometimes you just gotta go balls out and pull out all the stops for awesome sounding music, since that's something you should experience in your life. But once you get there, imo it shouldn't make low end gear or low bit rate music "unlistenable."
  13. I'm using my $20 AL iM716 in bass mode straight off a school Mac listening to stuff off youtube right now and sorry but I just don't care that everything sounds like crap. It's still music, and that's good enough for me. Not to say that high(er) end rigs aren't worth it, but mp3s really aren't a big deal to me.
  14. Being able to hear properly ftw
  15. The LCD2 really needs to come out ASAP, it's been so many months. A headphone cable. With drivers. And enclosure. And headband. Oddly enough off the same headphone. And another headphone cable. Eff me, no monies again.
  16. I lol'd hard. Especially at the Windows XP and the 1.5 hours battery life bullets.
  17. Throw him under the bus all day long, you'll probably be right. And I hope you get the pad issue resolved, since different thickness pads will probably make the stereo image wonky with slight channel imbalance, etc. AD2K's could be a good alternative.
  18. The hell? Email Fang or whoever and get correct-sized pads. I hear/read he's just sending people the fabric for the pads for them to replace themselves after some of them started fraying to avoid having to ship the HE5s back and forth so maybe he'll send you a whole pad too. Or maybe you can figure a way to remove the fabric, trim down the more padded side and put the fabric back on. Either case, QC fail and I wouldn't doubt that there are huge variances in sound among HE5s. I think the pads can be taken off, but haven't read through the thread on HF thoroughly enough to tell you right now. Edit: Oh, maybe he's just sending whole pads. My bad, that makes more sense.
  19. Yeah apparently it's a mock-up of a Zu Druid, Hello Kitty-itized.
  20. With matching Fender
  21. Acoustic Revive RGC-24 Ground Conditioner A blend of special ores is clearly the solution
  22. Queen - The Game (Vinyl)
  23. Great news! Minus the gross problem. I now see what you mean by the blue goop stuff as mine has it. If you enter "akg blue-green goop" into google you get not exactly what you're looking for.
  24. The only instance I know of two people comparing two HE5s head to head (and posting their results on HF), one HE5 was indeed brighter than the other. But you could be right, that may not be the main cause of everyone's differing impressions as the graphs do make the HE5's treble to be quite spikey. It's hard to say at this point without more data points, but even the graphs from Japan seem to indicate that the HE5 is brighter than the HD650.
