Julie and the girls just moved into an apartment and I'd feel a lot safer if the apartment had some sort of security system. The ADT type subscription services seem less expensive per month but start to add up over a bit of time. Has anyone set up a system themselves or has suggestions for a diy system? 2 bedroom with windows, a living room door and a main door need to be covered essentially. I am thinking buying a cheap netbook and throwing a couple of tb drives in an enclosure and connecting them to some cameras. However, if there is a break in, I don't see why someone would leave the netbook behind. Cloud based services all require subscriptions at which point we might as well get something like ADT. Anything with a key pad entry and an loud alarm would be nice as well. She doesn't have anything of value other than perhaps her macbook air but it is more for their safety and my peace of mind. The new neighborhood is good but it's a bit removed from the gated town home community she moved out of recently.

Very nice Peter. Is the last one shot with the 14-24? Finally got around to scanning the rest of the film from New Orleans. http://anuragkatyal.blogspot.com/2014/10/nawlins-fun-in-french-quarter.html -

1. Google docs does everything I need to do. What kind of documents do you need to create? I have been using nod 32 for the past few years. Works great. -
Build my own website
crappyjones123 replied to nikongod's topic in GoRedwings19's Computer Help Hotline
One option is to build the site using Google sites using their templates and then point the domain to the Google address in stealth mode so the viewer doesn't see the redirect. This way you don't have to pay for hosting. When you start getting 10000 unique hits every month you can upgrade to dedicated hosting in case you need more space. Look around for a deal on domain vendors. They all offer varying prices on the same name for some reason. Www.domain.com was the last I used (cheaper than godaddy) and they have coupons frequently floating around. Google seems like a reasonable place to start to get your feet wet. It's free. If you like it you can invest in something better once you have enough content and a viewer base. If you don't like it, you are only out the cost of the domain. Ps. Google gives you access to the css code of their templates also so a good starting point. -
I'm impressed the office actually did a test to see what you had instead of blindly giving you antibiotics and sending you home. Feel better.

National WW2 Museum, New Orleans. Shot with a Nikon F5 and some black and white film. Processed and scanned in my bathroom -
Curved the wrong way?

Second time my car just turned off on the highway while I was driving it. Went looking for cars as well. Purchased a Honda civic a while back which I traded with my mom shortly after for her shitty suv. Paid for the civic in full when I walked out of the dealership. Really wish I hadn't done that now.

This is fantastic, Ari -
I copy/pasted the text I sent to my sister who was gloating about how she had a new toy and I didnt. perhaps the post here could have done without the 'hahahahaha.' Not the time or place I guess.

Agreed on all accounts, except for the first line - phones bending haven't been an issue so far but they also haven't been this large before (from Apple). Is it preferable to having the glass shatter? Absolutely. But I also think that if I were paying $950 for a phone, I would have preferred the metal be slightly less prone to bending even if it came at the cost of weight or thickness. Perhaps that is the price we pay for form over function. Given that phones, more often than not, reside in our pockets for a sizable portion of the day, I don't think that that is an unreasonable request. Rocket surgery sounds infinitely more interesting than 2nd degree av blocks.

As I said before Al, I'm sorry. Nate, some of the people just had it in their side pockets - not sitting on them. Might be a matter of the metal bending with the heat from the body over a prolonged period of time. My dad keeps it in his dress pants side pocket and it has developed a curvature over the past few days. My parents and sister got the 6+ the day it came out but my dad is going to try returning it tomorrow. His is slightly bent - he thought the curve was meant to be there as an ergonomic feature... His work does not pay for any repairs or replacement phones so he will likely just go back to a 5S or 5 which had no such issues.
-
Sorry Al. I was actually looking forward to buying the 6+. Stood in line and everything the first day but now I am somewhat glad I didn't get it. Will wait for a few months to see if Apple changes the material used or offers a better solution than, "don't put it in your pocket."

Hey Head-Case, what's your bandwidth like?

Comcast starting to throttle me again down to 2 mbit. Last time they did this it took 2 weeks of harassing them to get the speeds back to normal. Hopefully they don't cause the same problems again. -
If someone is crying over not being able to get a phone, they obviously need it more than I do. I'll grab it tomorrow. Or day after. Or whenever they have it in stock. Barring the larger screen and the curved design I don't really see any 'upgrades.' Certainly nothing major enough for me to want that phone today badly enough to where I ignore someone crying over it. Had the day off from school. Went with a friend. Hopefully she is happy with whatever she was able to get because they were starting to run out of the 6+'s fast.

Siri is on. Showed it to the apple people this morning while waiting in line. They couldn't figure it out either. Waited in line for 6 hours. I was the second to last person to get a reservation for a plus. The lady behind me started sobbing uncontrollably. Gave her my spot. Then got cursed out by the guy who got the last reservation for making him look like a douche because she was pleading with him for the spot (something about a disabled son). No iPhone but walked away happier than I woke up this morning even after my back killing me from standing that long. Funny story about this morning though. Got up early and got to the mall at 7:30 am to a pretty empty parking lot. Was super excited knowing that I would probably get the first spot in line. Walked into a dead empty mall. Went upstairs and turned the corner to find ~400 people ahead of me. I had parked on the wrong side of the mall. :<

Nope. All permissions are good.

Damnit.

No microphone here...

Anyone know how to bring back the microphone to dictate instead of typing stuff? It seems to have been replaced by the stupid emoticon button that I couldn't care less for.

Apparently if you have ~500 mb free like I did it prompts 4.7gb space needed for install (wish I had taken a picture of it) but if you have more than 1gb free, then it is ok. Stupid but whatever. Will investigate the embedded youtube issue more in a few hours.
