  1. Nope just the track to be uploaded later. I am guessing the 810 is using Strava's computers to do the tracking and just showing the results. Not something I care about when out on a ride though. I need to be given Strava a try though as it may give me some motivation as I am nearly always riding alone. The wireless sync sounds good in theory but I have to boot up my server to do the sync anyway so no use for me.
  2. Cool. Nothing new that I want but cool.
  3. Deep profile wheels are less stable in any gusts and if you decrease your rotating mass you have less gyroscopic effect too. Congrats on the PRs. I have not been anywhere near any of my PRs in years. How do you like strava? I have not used it.
  4. Is there any cycling club near you? A lot of them are non-racing oriented and filled with pretty cool people.
  5. More like: "this stuff can be used to solve real world problems?"
  6. My phd is in theoretical fluids and from a naval architecture (which is an engineering discipline) program. We fluids guys are common in both mechanical, civil, chemical, aerospace engineering and atmospheric science. Tensor notation is used in the teaching of the navier stokes equations which are very common. I actually work with inviscid fluids a lot which are described by the Laplace equations and I have done so many vector identity proofs with tensor notation it's scary. I remember talking graduate math classes and the math majors bring stunned/troubled by me actually doing useful things with their math.
  7. Jeff I hope that they are neon green.
  8. Vicki and John: I hope that that you had a great ride. Vicki I hope you love the Calfee. Mike: I totally understand with regards to family stuff taking priority. Sorry to hear about your frame but I trust it was the right decision for you.
  9. And fluid mechanics people too.
  10. Happy Birthday!
  11. Nope. 25 years which is close enough. The Crumpton is 10 I think. Calfee is all about service though and I doubt they'd give too much trouble beyond that time.
  12. Jeff good luck with the rides. Embrocation is your friend if you can't find clothing. If you want to come down my way we should ride. Nate, Calfee actually has boron to their tubing and carbon for more crash resistance. That is a large part of what pushed me over the edge. That said hearing that Cervelo is happy with only a few years is crazy.
  13. Stepped on the scale after eating whatever I wanted for 10 days to find 20 more pounds of me.
  14. There is no low end Calfee. Good times.
  15. Carbon does not soften with age. It is particularly used in place of steel in uses where fatigue is an issue. Eg helicopter blades. Welds actually have huge fatigue issues so chances are that you could fatigue a poorly done weld in ti and steel before the carbon. Jeff: what Calfee?
  16. Got up and went swimming at the beach with my family. We have gone swimming at least once a day this entire trip to Barbados. Good times. Back to the cold tomorrow. Then caught up on the Internet and news I have been missing.
  17. Great goals Vicki. I will have to give mine more thought but goal #1 is 185 lbs and I am hoping to do 3 or 4 centuries. With a new kid on the way just as the cycling season really kicks off I don't know what will really happen.
  18. Last day at home before we head out for Christmas and I really wanted to get a ride in outside but it's gusting something like 35mph outside. No riding for me
  19. Awesome Vicki
  20. Jeff I am a fan and run them during the summer. I run Continental gatorskins otherwise and really like them for winter because they deal with road salt very well and don't flat (as much).
  21. Wrench science and competitive cyclist are good online businesses that sell whole bikes. I had a very good experience with Neuvation bikes myself if you are looking for high performance per dollar and don't care about brand.
  22. Nice work all! I am down 70 lbs or so since I started riding a few years back and the latest round is 50 lbs since July.
  23. Screw you Mr Weatherman. You told me it was going to rain so people canceled the shop ride and then it didn't rain all day....
  24. I see that. I was coming back to say that. 250 weight limit instead. Awesome wheels. They have been great with the warranty repair. Edit: I see that they have beefed up the rear hubs to try and prevent cracking. That is what happened to mine. Hope they fixed it.
