  1. That is exactly what I am thinking at the moment. I hate to go without vinyl for all that time but I may just list my tt on Audiogon to see what I can get. I might pick up a Rega P1 used to have for the duration of the wait.
  2. I noticed the computers as well, along with the wadia/ipod combo. The Gavia is a beauty. I really have my heart set on the Serac. The nice thing with Galibier is that there is a clear upgrade path to the higher end gear and he makes it very easy for you to do. You can start out at the bottom and easily move your way up without losing anything on the old gear. Right now I am just trying to figure out the timing. I could sell my Hyperspace now (assuming anyone has any money to buy any gear at the moment) and use that for the down payment. The build time is 6-10 weeks which should work out for me for the balance.
  3. Great pics and impressions. Thanks for the shot of the Galibier Gavia.
  4. I would love to go but it's the same weekend as Langerado.
  5. It's good stuff. I know grawk is a big fan as well.
  6. Happy Birthday!
  7. A great bargain in bourbon is Van Winkle 12 year Lot "B". I believe it's no more than $40 a bottle.
  8. Actually, the saying is next year in Israel but the RMAF is in Denver. Meaning you, me, Jp and whoever else meet at RMAF next year.
  9. As Jews say on Passover, next year in Denver.
  10. Steve, check out the Galibier room (I assume he there somewhere) and in particular the Serac tt, if you have time. I would be curious to hear what you think.
  11. Very happy to see you are coming home and interested in the HE Audio 1.2B.
  12. Hope your feeling better. Nitrous, oh the stories I could tell....
  13. Yes, we are running an exchange server. One less thing to worry about. Plus I don't think running word or word perfect will be a problem. The big question is the case management program. I'm guessing this should not be a problem since xp is running natively.
  14. The only thing I need XP for is to run the software we use for case management, Word and Outlook. I hope a MB does the trick. The office is paying but I wanted to keep it under $1500 and I prefer 13" so it's easier to carry for travel. I have a 22" monitor for the office. If it doesn't work, it goes to my son. I was buying him a MB by the end of the year anyway.
  15. I just checked Macrumors and they are reporting that Gizmoto and Endgadget are reporting the notebook event for 10/14. I'm looking for a macbook, set to dual boot with XP Pro so I can use it in my office.
  16. This is what I'm hoping for otherwise I need to buy another pc notebook.
  17. Happy Birthday!
  18. x2 on both. I look multiple times a day for a Galibier or Teres to show up. I thought I had a Teres at one point but it didn't work out. I've never seen a Galibier. In the scheme of things both off a model that is within reach. I would love to be able to have an extended audition with them to compare to my Nottingham, which is pretty damn good. Jp, we have to go to RMAF next year.
  19. SRD-7 mkii from spritzer since the other one was traded for the KGSS DX.
  20. You may want to check the Canuck Audio Mart. I found a Naim Nait 5i in Quebec City for $1150 (assume CA) which is about $1050 US. Still more than you want to pay but his price is a little high so there may be room to negotiate. It's a great integrated. A Rega Mira 3 is in your price range as well. There is one on Audiogon for $700 ($1200 retail, I believe). The Quads are 88db so not too efficient so 50 watts plus is probably what you are looking for but you probably can get away with less. There is also some tube stuff to consider, like the Prima Luna Prologue 1. Wasn't sure if you cared whether tube or not. There may be some Cayin stuff in that range as well.
  21. Ken, good choice. I've had mine for more than 2 years now. I wear them pretty much everyday. When I went to Costa Rica for two weeks they were the only shoes I had with me.
  22. Never had a problem until now. Only one of the amps has a problem. The other is fine. He told me a resistor failed in the protection relay circuit and put one in that was larger (he didn't define what larger means other but he knew he was talking to a layperson). He wants to do the same for the other amp. He did the repair, it was working and sent it back. As a result of the second failure in the same amp, he is going to build a new amp to replace it and update the other. I rather not be without them for another two weeks but it's not a big deal since I have a very nice replacement at the moment. You guys are awfully cranky today. DOTU, shouldn't you be putting together that sweet office rig and posting pics?
  23. I'm not sure I understand the "saint" stuff. I've had one problem and he messed up and is building me a new amp. I mean, I'm not happy but shit does happen on occasion. If this were SP, I may not be understanding but so far the guy has been pretty stand up. The company is Tube Audio Design. He's a one man operation.
  24. They were new. I've had them for 5 months and this was the first issue. He apologized and said he should have ran it longer before sending it back. The turnaround was just under 2 weeks, considering some others, that's not too bad. He is a good guy...so far. I am picking up an amp from Oz this afternoon so I am good to go.
  25. Installed.
