  5. Various Artists - This is 1964 A compilation of tunes by pop-rock acts like the Animals, Beach Boys, Shirley Bassey, etc. which were popular that year. Looks like it's a collection with an album for every year from the 60's to 90's ... not sure. Anyway, found it by chance on Spotify.
  6. I've listened to Benz carts in several occasions, once even compared one -not sure it was an Ace- to a "simple" D103 on the same TT (an Audiomeca) and I didn't like them. Not as "despisable" as any Clearaudio to my ears, but prescindible. To each one his own I guess
  7. Why? For some time I had a VdH The Frog mounted on a Project. I don't think a good cart really "needs" an expensive TT to shine. A better table will provide some benefits, but good tables don't need to be expensive IMHO. TT is the simplest part of the vinyl playing equation.
  8. Glad you solved it Maybe my HF-2 start developing that problem too. I'll need to look at them better, probably mine aren't glued either.
  9. No words required
  10. Maybe you just can push the wire a bit into the cup, so there's more wire inside, then hopefully it won't touch the driver. It will work as long as the solder joint is upside, away from the wire entrance into the cup. My HF2 seem to be glued inside, so I can't push more wire inside -not that it's needed-, but on the PS1, which don't have glue holding the wire, I need to do that from time to time, otherwise I get something very similar to what you're describing.
  11. Amos Lee - Amos Lee
  12. Some pics will help As you can see, there's a selector to choose the source that will be amplified and "sent" to the speakers outputs (you have two, though not selectable separately, one has lower output impedance than the other, so you can find which one matches better your speakers). The other selector, labeled "record", lets you decide which source will go through the tape out. So you might be even sending one signal through the speakers and a different one to the headphone amp or recorder. In this one you can see all the inputs available -plenty of them- and the tape in and out. Just one tape loop. Also the speakers outputs, one with binding posts suitable for bananas or spades, and the other ones just for bananas. For the porn fetishists, one of the insides: Like Nate said, you can turn the volume completely down, so muting the speakers, and then listening whatever you select for the tape out, or choosing an empty input. It doesn't have a mute function as such. The tape out should work with the amp off, but it's intended to be an "always on" unit. This is one of those things which don't sound very well until they've been on for "some time" This amp errs more to the "musical" sounding side of things than to the analytical one, but I wouldn't say it's not mainly neutral. The DT is the model to look for. Forget the "normal" non-DT units or more modern ones.
  13. I'd suggest trying the YBA Integr
  14. Vicki, while those speakers probably aren't up to your "sound" exigences, I think the excessive bass comes from the desk acting as a resonance chamber for low freqs. I'd try taller stands, and if possible, something rigid made of metal. I'd link the speakers to the stands using Bluetack, and would decouple the stands from the desk using sorbotane cubes or half squash balls. Also moving the speakers a bit more forward probably may help. Another thing to try is filling the ports with tissue paper, so you can use light damping or more severe depending on results. If you ended up thinking that completely blocking the ports is the way to go, then I'd use thick felt or even rubber.
  15. Hehehehe, I know that feeling. Got the same problem on my PS1, the difference was that the hair wasn't onto the driver, but it was my own hair -the side whiskers-. Had to learn to set the hair before putting on the phones
