  1. Scott Adams Blog: That Lost 4G Phone 04/26/2010
  2. Cool. I have a Jan 2009 unibody 15" Macbook Pro, and I would like to do the same upgrade from my 250gb to a 500gb. If yours uses the same HD, can you please tell me what model number drive you got, from where and est price, and where you got the instructions? I have to keep removing music and movies to make room for new stuff, shuttling it off to an external drive as backup.
  3. It seems there would have to be some kind of software switch to activate or use a USB DAC, and I don't think there's an app for that.
  4. Another Mac user sent me the link, and it did look legit and shows moving planes in the air with airports and weather and ash cloud.
  5. Dinan bought my SR-404LE around Halloween while Elusivedisc was sold out. He kept his order for a spare pair, but sold one of the pairs a while back. I don't think he had three pairs, but I could be wrong. I listened to them on his modded SRM-717, but the SR-007 and HE-60 were still better. His 717 did sound really good.
  6. That maintains the suckage factor nicely then.
  7. This is what I should post in response - "yeah, the CD3000 mids reminded me a lot of the nasal-honky mids of the W5000 and W11R, which are not recessed and take some time to get used to." Then I should stop there. I had a much longer post but I chickened out about posting more. Sorry, but I guess the training is working...
  8. I guess it's a good thing that I don't think the mids are recessed on the R10, L3000, HD800, K1000, HE-5, HD600, HD650, K702, Edition 9, ATH-A900, W5000, W11R, ESW10JPN, RS-1, HF-2, RS-2, MS-1, SR-60, O2 Mk2, HE60, Jade, SR-003, ESP-950, Gamma Pro (stock or woodied), SR-5NB, SR-Lambda, and more. I do feel there are some recessed mids in the HF-1 (bowls), D2000-7000, Proline 2500, Darth Beyer V3, SR-Lambda pro, and UE11Pro. I think the O2 Mk1 can have recessed mids depending on the amp, and I heard mildly recessed on the GES and BHSE, but they sounded more forward on WES and ZDT/SRD-7 Pro. I spent 20 minutes changing and deleting and retyping my SRH840/D7000 post, because on one hand you guys have taught me it's not a good idea to post here, and on the other hand I just wanted to be help out. Go figure. I posted similar thoughts a year ago about my comparison.
  9. I've been thinking about it, and I suppose the flat design is better for typing when it's laying on the desk, and the easy access to battery could make it possible to carry extra batteries. It looks like the battery is removable/replaceable once the bottom of the case is off.
  10. The Shure SRH840 that I tried at CanJam had better frequency balance than a stock D2000, and they don't have the recessed mids of the D2000. So, if you only need something to hold you off till the Thunderpants are done, I would pick the Shure. I will add that the stock D7000 are a little better than the D2000/D5000, but they still have the recessed mids and the family resemblence in sound is still there. I've heard modded D2000 and modded D5000, and the modded D7000 are by far a better headphone than the others. I would not keep a stock D7000 for the long term, but the modded ones are a different story. They were not as good as the R10 in a side by side comparison last summer, but they were not embarrassed by the R10 either. The R10 had richer fuller more vibrant mids, and stronger bass. While the R10 bass also seemed a little boomy sometimes, I still preferred the R10.

  12. I have to say I don't like the new look and much prefer the 3G/GS over the 2G iPhone or the lost 4G prototype. I especially like the way the current ones feel in the hand.
  13. The previous times I thought the HD650 were too dark vs my HD600, which I thought were more neutral. But I remember listening to Bluto's HD650 on his ZD and they sounded much better than with my amps. I wonder how the HD650 would sound with the ZDT/PWD combo. Maybe someday I'll try that.
  14. Well, I went for the PS Audio Perfectwave DAC. There are many others that I will let people recommend here.
  15. Making me wonder if I should try the HD650 for the 3rd time...
  16. Spritzer, are you still getting a BHSE?
  17. As far a I know, I have the only WES without any single ended inputs and 12AU7 phase splitters. Are there others like my demo unit missing those? My RCA are wired up as loop out and I saved a ton of money on the demo amp. I use an ISOmax transformer to feed my single ended phono preamplifier into the WES balanced inputs. I do have to use a Neutrick XLR gender changer since the transformer is made for connecting a balanced DAC to a single ended amp, but it works both ways. Cheers.
  18. The advice you'll get here is that next you need a source upgrade, before the inevitable O2. I have to admit that they were right.
  19. That was really cool. I'd love something like that for when we get tired of looking at the beautiful mountain behind our house.
  20. What did the article say? Now it's been removed at the request of Apple. Thanks!
  21. Holy Cow!

  23. Senn told me on the phone that the pads were discontinued, and they worked for two days to find me two sets when I called to order. I was told I got the last ones. Weird, but good news if they aren't.
  24. With my old windows mobile phone Opera was the browser to use, but not with iPhone. The two level zoom is the worst feature, where on the full page view nothing is readable. I likely will only use it when all I have is a slow EDGE connection.
