I sold my SR-404LE after 4 weeks and kept the HE60, so you might be thinking of me. The SR-404LE reminded me more of an electrostatic HD600, while the HE60 are more like an electrostatic HD800. I preferred the HE60, but both are really good though. With my WES amp I use the HE60 more than my SR-007. I managed to buy the last two sets of earpads/headbands that Sennheiser had a few weeks ago, because I'm in it for the long run (not for sale). Still, it's good to know about the HD650 headband part being a good fit. I just tried some HD280 ear pads yesterday, and they are slightly too small and wont stay on the earcups without bluetak or double sided tape to hold them in place. The sound is not bad with the HD280 pads though, but they feel hotter than the stock pads. I'll keep searching till I find a good replacement pad, and post what I find out.

I took my 3GS with 3.0.1 / 4.26 baseband to a jail broken 3.1.2 with same baseband (can be unlocked), using the iClarified instructions and PWNageTool 3.1.5 where I customized the iPhone ipsw that they linked to in the tutorial. I am using MyWi right now to connect my iPad and type this. I did have to restore my network settings on the iphone to get everything to play nice, but I am happy.

So, which is better, Mk1 or Mk2 pads? I always thought the Mk1 were supposed to be better but the tide seems to have changed here lately.

Well, I have my son's older 8gb 3G jailbroken and running the MyWi app to make it a WiFi router, and connected the iPad successfully. Speedtest reported 500-600 Kbps downloads and 70 Kbps upload speed. I might do this on my early 3GS now, but it looks like it could suck the 3G battery dry in about 4 hours... Will do a battery test soon and report back. This might help the next guy but I used the iClarify.com tutorials. Both phones were running an old 3.0.1 OS with 4.26 baseband. I used PWNageTool 3.1.5 to create a custom .ipsw file for 3.1.2 and installed that, so the baseband is untouched and it can still be unlocked with UltraSn0w or BlackSn0w. If you have OS 3.1.3 with 5.12 baseband you're screwed.

You are right, it is a little tedious, but I have had to use it a few times to print a contact or a photo, and it works great to let me access my files on iDisk and print them (doc, txt, PDF, jpg, etc). To print an email you have to enter the mail servers into the app and fetch the mail from within the app, or use the built in browser to visit a webpage that you want to print. iPhone OS really should have printing built-in and I was disappointed that it isn't in OS 4.0 where it belongs.

We'd love photos and videos of the place. Bee safe!

You need an app for that: iPhone Printing: There's an App for that - As seen in the Apple "Print n Share"

Thanks, I might also need to reset PRAM or SMC. I didn't even think about that! -

Unfortunately I can't afford a pair of PWD to use in both the bedroom/Macbook rig and main rig, sorry. I think I'll need to go look at powered USB hubs tomorrow, but I wasn't sure if anyone could recommend one that they know would fix the problem. I suppose I can switch the bedroom CD player to coax into Apogee (for WA6/eXStatA), and then use optical for Macbook into Apogee. But the nice Emotiva optical cable that I am using is very stiff and difficult to manage or route around the Macbook rig, which is on a small rolling bedside table next to my listening chair. I'll need to get a more flexible cable that wont put torque on the optical jack and will let me roll around the laptop table. I could also switch back to the iBasso D10 with a short optical cable, but I would still want to plug it into USB to keep it charged. This could feed my balanced Protector on my table, but the DACport is a little better sounding. I wanted something for this role that would be self powered and not need to be tied into wall power. (too many cables) -
It sounded great at CanJam, and I am told it's even better now.

I'm having a new problem with OSX after upgrading from 10.5.8 to 10.6.3 and I was wondering if anyone else has encountered this issue and what they did to fix the problem? I bought the Mac OSX 10.6 upgrade when it first came out, but I never installed it because everything was running so well with 10.5 and I didn't want to screw things up. Recently I started running into some issues where some software required OSX 10.6 to run. I made sure over the past several months that all my software was slowly upgraded to become 10.6 compatible before doing the OSX upgrade, and I did the upgrade 2 days ago. The upgrade went well, as far as I could tell. But now i found that I can't use several of my DACs IF they are plugged into my 4 port Targus portable USB hub, without hearing clicking or popping and other interference. This includes my DACport, Nuforce HDP and Apogee mini-DAC. I keep several DACs plugged in at the same time and then use the Mac software to switch from one to another, depending on what amp I wanted to listen to. The Targus hub has a special cable that plugs into both USB ports on my Macbook Pro (rev Jan 2009), so that it has enough power. I have two of these Targus hubs, and the new problem occurs whether I swap out the hub or the cables. The above DACs work fine plugged directly into the Macbook. However, I can still plug the Pico Slim, iBasso D4, or Headstage USB DAC into the hub and they all work fine when switching between them with software. Even my Hauppauge USB HDTV TV stick with eyeTV software has now become unreliable regardless of whether via the USB hub or directly plugged into the Mac, and before this update I could plug the TV and 3 DACs into the hub at the same time without a problem. What I don't understand is why did this problem start only after I did the system software update? Has anyone else seen this happen? I know one thing I can try is to buy a new powered hub and see if that solves the problem, but it's a real pain the in butt when everything was just fine before. I could also just get used to frequently plugging in and unplugging devices from the Macs own USB ports, and go back to optical when using my Mini-DAC. Without the hub I cant use my 500Gb ext drive, USB TV stick and DAC/amp at the same time (unless I use optical or firewire for a DAC). So if someone could recommend a particular hub brand or a software fix that they know works well in this situation I would really appreciate it. -
I'll try to find the links to the photos around here somewhere. It took me a while to find a Gamma Pro. I bought one from Spritzer and then sold it a month later (I think to Smeggy) because I originally liked the SR-5 gold edition and SR-Lambda more than the stock Gamma Pro. And then when he agreed to build a Smegma Pro for me it took me a couple of months to find another pair for $350 + shipping from Australia, and after six months of not bugging him to get it done they were here. I also had to supply the O2 Mk1 pads, and shipping, for almost $600 total invested with shipping (not including an orthodynamic gift that I sent him to keep). The Smegma Pro is much better than stock and I now prefer it over the SR-5 gold edition or SR-Lambda. As a bonus, the Smegma Pro sounds better out of my Senn HEV70 amp in my bedroom rig than the HE60 do. I still listen to them after 14 months, with no intention of parting with them. It may be easier to find a Koss ESP-950 and put a Stax PC-OCC cable on it. However that's more forward and aggressive than the HE60 or Smegma Pro, with a smaller soundstage to boot. I thought my APS modded 950's (bought from Spritzer) sounded a little bit like an electrostatic RS-1 (both gone now). PS: Found a photo:

My aftermarket Smegmafied woodied Gamma Pro. That'll be harder to find than an HE60, so good luck with that.

GoodReader also lets you transfer pdf files to the iPad (Wifi thumbdrive mode) and read them offline. When online you can fetch them from your iDisk as well, and other servers.

Happy birthday Tyler!

Thanks, I just might order that.

Sorry, I was referring to the screen protector that I was asking about/looking for.

No, more like a condom...

The iPad's attraction to fingerprints has me using a Pogo stylus so that I don't have to smudge the screen. Any others bugged by this? I'd like to find a screen protector that resists fingerprints.

Well, I think if Jude is correct that the extra bass in the JH16Pro doesn't intrude on the mids or seem boomy, that I might prefer the JH16Pro. Eventually I'll have to try them for myself.

I've been using it since it first came out, when they were the only player in the game. Then wiitransfer.com came out, and they might be cheaper. I haven't checked in a while

I just got tracking but it's not showing up in the UPS system yet. I'll be in Wyoming for Easter and Blutarsky is going to pick up my iPad from my UPS Store mailbox for me, so I can get it from him on Sunday when I return. That's what friends are for. Tonight I ran Speedtest a few times on my iPhone 3GS which shows 3G is running between 113kbit/s avg and 323 kbit/s. I checked my history in Speedtest, and these are the fastest 3G I have seen so far (goes back as far as June 22 09). With the MiFi I got between 223 and 539 kbits/s, so MiFi is faster, but Comcast was 7,500 kbits/s. I'll test the AT&T 3G network speeds as I travel, and again when I go to Blutarsky's to see if being near Bluto speeds it up or not. It might be faster when he holds his breath vs breathing, so we'll try that too.

I almost joined the 3G club, but we already have a VZW MiFi that we use for internet on our Macbooks. It didn't make sense to wait an extra month just to pay an additional $30/mo for something we already have. Plus, Slingbox for the iPhone using the MiFi for internet is much smoother and without stuttering vs AT&T's 3G service. I don't understand how AT&T can brag about "fastest 3G" when it can't even provide smooth video from Slingbox while VZW can.
