  1. "Come on kids, we've got to get these amps to the FedEx! If only we could see! I gave them my word and my reputation is at stake!"
  2. He's a whackadoodle.
  3. I only got to listen to side one of the Gil Melle last night but it kills! Loved it. Big baritone sax and trombone goodness, Cinderella on guitar, and Thigpen/Pettiford rhythm section and great arrangements. Are you getting all of these records and never listening to them? That is whack. Just get one of those USB turntables from Project and get to it!
  4. Agreed on the Pico dac > Benchmark dac. Tyll and Todd have both told me the same story from the Sennheiser perspective. They will receive 65 and 30 respectively in the first shipment from Senn, and each have another chunk reserved for the second shipment if sales are brisk. Now, whether Senn has different plans for phasing those deliveries, I don't know, but the sales reps are tell Todd and Tyll to expect their initial orders in February sometime. Tyll is also expecting a single pair for HR to do tests and a full write-up. I am guessing Senn also has a few reserved to get into the hands of Stereophile, Absolute Sound, 6 Moons and whoever else they think could get them a decent review in a reasonable amount of time.

  7. I totally disagree on Run DMC. They belong. The hall of fame is a goofy enough thing for sports but it is really goofy for musicians. Still, Run DMC should be there.

  12. That's another stupid, ambiguous response though. What is the mystery about dropping two boxes at FedEx or having them picked up even?!
  13. You wouldn't want Galina to catch a chill now, would you?
  14. Well? Movement today?
  15. Sadly, the Rover must have finally caught up with No. 6 Patrick McGoohan died today after a short illness. I hope he finds out who is No. 1.
  16. Not quite, JP, there was music on the final released version of the Hoffman talk, but we had to keep the clips under one minute. I have the full version, personally, but we couldn't release that one.
  17. That is correct. He also bumped up his initial allotment to 30 pairs and said today that Sennheiser believes the first to drop will be in mid-February instead of March.

  19. How it does what? Playing files from a computer? Compared to the EMM Labs?
  20. grawk Duet / Nate breakout cable. Rain Man Records can't locate its other A-D converter, and Retard Records doesn't want to bring its gear to RMR for every recording session we do, so Dan hooked me up. Thanks Dan.
  21. Why not Jeff?! Should be a nice thing to have available.
  22. Does "no word" mean no indication of movement on your tracking numbers?

  24. I really do believe that these are being assembled right now for the first time and that the numbers are going to be limited in the first wave. As I posted elsewhere, the pair that I opened for the first time and took the twisty off the cord was pair 348. The national marketing director said that pair was assembled on Monday of last week and flown over to Vegas from Germany because of the customs screw up that seemed to hold up the palette of 20 cans they expected to have. The other information I got from the technical guy (head of an R&D division) was that serial nos. 1-200 were being reserved for special purposes and my sense was those were not even assembled yet. The upshot is that as of last Monday we can assume they had built somewhere around 150 pairs for distribution. More will be built in the next month before the shipments hit Tyll and Todd in late Feb./early March. Todd has been assured that he is among the very first wave along with Tyll and perhaps Drew (I just don't have details from/about Drew's order). I cannot imagine that they will give a big chunk of cans to Amazon out of that first wave because they can see the orders amassing with the known quantities and will hopefully support them.
