  1. That's funny, just this morning I was putting away booze from a party (what little was left ) and was looking at my Old Taylor that was bottled in 1933, the last year of Prohibition in the US. The tax stamp says it was Made in 1916, which was during World War I, although the US wasn't in it yet. It was clearly bottled during Prohibition because the label identifies the bottler as The American Medicinal Spirits Company, and there are labels all over it indicating it is for medicinal use only. A warning says that prohibited uses could cause severe penalties to the company [and dry up the only source of booze available]. There is even a direction to affix a prescription sticker through the opening on the box. My favorite, though, is the slogan: "Unexcelled for Medicinal Use"! My grandfather kept this bottle in the original box for 60+ years for some reason. I also have his mini liquor bottle collection and many of those are from Prohibition too. There are some that were Navy spirits in little medicine boxes. Good times. Here are a few iMac photos: And here is an Rx label for hooch, awaiting signature by Dr. Feelgood: Sorry for the interruption to the consumer consumption thread. Carry on.

  3. Deepak has made some interesting choices today as well.
  4. Hey, nice selections Dan! I was just about to do the same on the big rig.
  5. Wow, nice finish to a crappy day! You are becoming a god of DIY, dood.
  6. Regina Spektor: My Dear Acquaintance [A Happy New Year] Live in California
  7. Toot! I saw that Sherwood, and figured that was a basis for calling Fail on him.
  8. I actually said happy birthday to you because you were logged in to chat but you did not respond. You lose.
  9. GREAT PRODUCT STILL AVAILABLE! No shit. As soon as he used the word "Fadel" I knew it had to be that same douche (to use a French word so he can understand it) even though I didn't remember his user name. Maybe he should put this under his gear: * *Credit to The Onion, greatest of all newspapers.
  10. You're in! We have no standards so your experience is perfectly acceptable. We debated whether the name should be Bay Area Analog Association, but figured the sheep jokes would get old quickly. Plus, JP does a mean Rain Man impression and it helps to pass the time through the tedium of needle-dropping.
  11. Fucking finally! Hoffman played Moondance at the 2007 HeadFest and it was extraordinary even among the amazing cuts he played. I cannot believe it has taken them this long but it is worth every penny, including buying a whole turntable rig!
  12. Cal Tjader Quartet -- Live at the Blackhawk
  13. Worked from home. Founded Rain Man Records with JP#s. Definitely needledrop'd 8 records. Went to my son's school for a pot luck holiday lunch and presentation of Native American reports.
  14. Cool. JP#s and I saw Susan Tedeschi earlier this year with Derek Trucks. If they make it your way you should definitely see them.
  15. Glad they got to you! I just tracked them and Amazon had them for delivery on thursday! I'm really glad you like the discs, and you'll have to explore the Progressions box for some new guitarists. You definitely seem to like Burrell, Montgomery, and others, so I thought you could find some new blood. I also figured Lucinda Williams was up your alley but you hadn't posted about that album so I took a shot. Enjoy and have a happy holiday! I opened your PM but it looked like you were talking about what you sent me and I haven't opened them yet so I closed it and decided to respond here.
  16. Lily for the win! Oh, and the amp looks the business, Nate. Nice work.
  17. Maybe he got his 3-letter Head-Casers mixed up. Poor GPH will have to make do with coal lumps.
  18. Only if you want to be banned.
  19. That smiley is perfect for you! grawk should make = Quite right, redshitter was who I meant. It's fine that they have their little jokes and love letters to -=her=- and all, but I really don't need that shit over here.
  20. Man, did I see the most awesomest toy Daleks at a local cards/comics/toys shop! I thought of you, of course, even though I've never met you.
  21. I sure as hell hope not, Nate, because this guy comes here with a giant asshat already planted on him in my book. I was just saying to Nums last night that redmolassas, redleader, kirosia, etc., not only added nothing to HF but are in fact subtractive. They drive away people who actually have something relevant to say because people are not willing to wade through all the pure bullshit they spout trying to be cute and funny and edgy. Given that he already has called himself a "professional thread derailer" in his first 15 posts here is not a good sign. If all his buds come over here then this place will start to suck ass real fast.
