Considering its rarity it is a reasonable 45,000 yen premium compared to a new SR-009 (but of course you can get one for a lot less now used) I wonder if they took a leaf out of Leica's book. Because Japanese people also have the option of an old-new Leica lens in black, which funnily enough, carries the exact same price and also the exact same amount of premium compared to silver (limited to 50 pieces, so I guess it is sold out)

That's good to hear, so it may not be me being utterly useless in post-production. Looking back at images, I am struggling to get a grip on a constant style. I guess it is down to taste, I like 5D III colors as well as they are, maybe more so than the 5D IV but the latter seems a bit more accurate and subdued. And generally the adjustments work differently (better) for me on Canon. I got a Color Chart (not the pricey XRite one) and so far I haven't figured out how to make a good profile out out it, simply recognising it in a DNG Profile Editor without further adjustments makes it too flat and lifeless(similar to the Adobe Standard profile which is flatter than any of the Camera Profiles). I haven't tried it with the Canon yet, but will do it some time later one, I wonder if it does the same thing. I took pictures with both cameras and tried to match it by hand, it was difficult to do but works reasonably well with natural right, so that's what I use some of the times. With artificial light though, I couldn't do it, this is where the Sony has the most problems, even with a grey card I couldn't set a white balance that I was happy with.

One XQD slot, that's annoying. Since Nikon is in the memory card business now, it's been done to 'encourage' users to get more expensive cards and have no backup at the same time. (They could have added an SD card alongside like the D500 or D850) The camera itself does not seem to benefit at all from the insane card speed (the buffer is small). Apart from this, it is certainly the 'cool' camera for the moment, the pricing of the bodies are aggressive. Quite an investment, if one doesn't own any Nikon glass. I don't think this is a big problem for Canon with their huge ecosystem, where all of their cameras from very cheap entry level DSLR to professional camcorders use the EF-mount (we can also add RED cameras, etc.) Plus, these lenses have proven to be very reliable, not sure about these new all-electronic mirrorless lenses, I think that having a mechanical focus linkage is just nicer and the AF doesn't seem to be inferior. I am in the same boat, still using the original A7S (got it at a big discount), after ditching the A7 and A7II, The silent mode is something really special, an early and kinda rough implementation, but still works. Trouble is that the logical upgrade would be the A9, but the price is a rip-off considering it still has many Sony things that haven't been fixed. (Unfortunately, it is easy to catch the smartphone syndrome with mirrorless...) My biggest issue is the color and the general look, sometimes good, sometimes quite a struggle. I have bought a Canon 5D Mk1 for fun (YT hype), and I can recommend it to anybody starting out for fun over a crop sensor, if video is not needed. It certainly does feel kind of big and ancient, so I don't use it as much, but the images are really lovely, the colors are a whole lot better than any Sony, this is something you can't measure on DXO.

Croatia had a big edge over the midfield, that turned out to be crucial. The English goalkeeper was still excellent, but that is just not enough. On the other hand, they must be very very tired now, and with the current injuries they just don't have any good substitutes either (they only did the first one in the 101st minute!) but mentally they are looking strong as ever. It's been discussed too many times, the SRM-T1S sounds warmer smoother nicer but the SRM-1 Mk2 is considerably cheaper and sounds closer to your current amp. Either way, it is not a big difference. Of course you can also get an SRD-6 or SRD-7 (not the SB version) and make a 3-way bias leeching cable, plug one part into your existing amp and the other to the adapter to leech the normal bias, job done, no need to buy a separate amp just for that.

Yes that's the one. Personally I really see no evolution on that front, the vintage Lambda assembly was better. Because it was light, it let the cups more freely, reducing the pressure, and it didn't make the squeaking sounds of the latter version. And it was also cheaper and not as complicated as these latest ones with the click adjustment. I understand their usage with the heavy SR-009 that weight has to be distributed, but for the L700 etc. it is just not necessary and the plastic can break just as easily (or pick up little cracks like what I saw on the last used L700 Pro advert). So they've decided not to employ that in the L300LE to drive the price down. I think it is more likely to use the same transducers (for cost and parts support reasons) and the cable might actually change the sound a bit, reducing the treble, making it a bit darker and the pads also change it (L700 pads seem to be preferable). So for the price of a L500 (which is almost the same as the L300) plus a cost of L700 pads, one can obtain an arguably better headphone (for a while), a smart decision I think, since it is probably less profitable than the L500. It is nice to see the advancements they've made, it is just a pity that it put the top Lambda into a new price category as well, and yet somehow still keeping that not so high-quality feeling.

I think both free kick goals were impressive for different reasons and both were taken under high pressure situations. Really no need to do that. You can see that while the arc assembly, earpads and cable are different, they are constructed very similarly. They either use the same transducers or very similar ones, but you can't really tell that, maybe even if you disassemble the drivers. I just want to add that Stax have made an L700 Pro variant just for the German market. The earcup holders are made out of aluminium (just like the SR-507) and if I got right, the transducer holders are also made out of that instead of plastic. Not sure if that affects the sound or not, but they are a lot more expensive than the standard model, 1700 Euros!

You can google the name as well as anybody, neither has been released yet. My guestimation is around 1500$ MSRP, maybe a bit less. It might not be that different to a 252S besides the built-in DAC, but we'll see. My other prediction is that the SR-007 is going to be updated next after that, because now it is the only headphone in the lineup to use the "outdated" wide PC-OCC cable. They have started using Hitachi copper in the L500 for instance, if that actually accounts for anything. Maybe it is simply what's become available now.

It's not just a question of Mk1 or Mk2. If I counted them right in total there are three versions of each (plus the 'Mk2' vs 'A' paint scheme) But generally they all sound like SR-007s, so just get one for a good price which you can resell if you don't like it. The cable entry can fail on the Mk1, but it's not something that can't be fixed. And if you need replacement head- or earpads, they are only available in black color.

Yes, it is a custom pot, which I've found out the hard way, when I received a 717 which got damaged during transit... It is just the non-feedback for short (non-nfb to be precise, but whatever). The Sig is not modified in any way (but it needed a fair bit of cleaning and I put the new mesh inside the old pads to avoid touching those metal grilles) Well, after just 6 hours of runtime the 727 blew a fuse. But after replacing it, it seems to work fine without any issues (which is good, because there was only one piece in the shop), so not sure what caused that in the first place. But now I avoid using that cheap power distributor just to be safe and plug it directly to a different outlet, the DAC also acted funny a few times in the past, until I moved that to a different outlet. Maybe I will get something decent after I move everything.

The amp mod is now done and normal bias added in as well (thanks everyone for the contribution). It runs pretty hot for being quite big and solid-state, maybe I'll move the whole setup away from its current location. Well, shoot me and, but I think the Lambda Signatures actually sounded better in its stock NFB from, there was a bit of bass bloom, warmth and also sparkle to its midrange (but not peaky) that was actually quite pleasant. This is smooth but also thin and lean, not sure about the matching on this one. The SR-404s have improved, the bass is now more in control. If they were my own headphones I could potentially get used to them, but I don't think they are my cup of tea. Because... I just prefer the SR-Lambdas (what a surprise), they are just better balanced and the slight upper bass emphasis makes them fuller, but the 'unforced', yet very clear midrange is my favourite bit. Shame I couldn't try them unmodded, it may have been interesting. I feel they sound leaner and brighter than with the SRA3S. Those original Hitachi tubes just seem to have superb synergy with them, while the phones are able to provide plenty of 'magic' on their own, there was something particularly alluring with the midrange, which is not quite there here, it's just more 'plain'. I will say though that the SRA-3S wasn't as clear, spacious or detailed as the modded 727 (it's great to have the option of disabling the Alps pot and I also prefer balanced connection), so maybe it's a sound that will grow on me as time goes. I do remember that the old version KGSSHV sounded even brighter than this. Maybe a CCS modified SRM-T1(S) / SRM-007t with some nice tubes is able to sound more pleasant than this with the Lambdas while costing about the same or even less, but this is all just speculation based on one opinion at the other place. All I know is that the SR-007 Omega IIs (any variant) are definitely much better with the modded 727, overall it just a rather neat 'little' amp and at a good price point as long as one likes a more solid-state sound. Hopefully I can do a direct side-by-side with a stock demo unit to do this properly. It would be great just to really see how much difference is actually there, what differences I've ignored, and how much is just imagination.
