  1. The day that I start my own prog-death band, I'm stealing that damn name. Oprah.
  2. Anyone been able to compare to the Audio Alchemy DDE 3.0? I've heard good things about that one, too.
  3. I think it's pretty clear we all hate Headamp around here.
  4. All this K701 talk makes me want to give them a couple more listens. I've only heard stock K701 and balanced HD800, and they sound waaay different, mostly in the bass. I think the AKG is missing some midbass and is too relaxed or airy or something. The best adjective I can come up with is "weak." The balanced Senns, though, have all the bass I need, and I'm a borderline basshead. I wonder if it's as simple as a balanced drive issue. Or maybe the HD800 has problems fitting some people's heads?
  5. It doesn't really matter what it is, as long as he owns it.
  6. These rings are new to me. Look like halfway between flats and quarter-modded pads, except they're oval. I've been referring to the Grado "soft pads" as "comfies"... the ones that come with SR60s.
  7. Don't bother with that. Good EQ just costs more money.
  8. HD800 will probably never be as divisive as GS1000. I haven't seen that much hate yet, and that has nothing to do with HF conspiracies. Many of us just think it's a great headphone, and that's that. My only complaint is that I think it's ugly as hell. Some Battlestar Galactica shit right there.
  9. I would honestly love to do an extensive 3-way comparison between these and the Pico. But I don't really want the Pacemaker or Hifiman, so it would only satisfy my curiosity and nothing else. I would feel bad about getting something knowing I wouldn't be keeping it, unless it's a loaner program.

Meh Sherwood sucks dick for Casino access. It's all bad.
  11. Happy bday! How old are you again?
  12. Chobot is seriously fine.
  13. Sennheiser isn't hyping it up; we are. Between this and the F1 thing, Sennheiser's rep came out much better. I think so, but I've never ignored anyone before.
  14. I wish we knew someone who owns that Pacemaker thing...
  15. Hmm I wonder how much power these can handle...
  16. Well, I don't know how much you have saved up, but if you're gonna be scraping for it, then I'd say a big amp purchase is rather fiscally irresponsible.
  17. I don't recall ever seeing 2 Zanas for sale at the same time, until now, but I really really don't think you should do it.
  18. Man, how the fuck am I supposed to know this guy is kidding without smilies? Anybody who's the least bit computer-savvy knows to use smilies when they're kidding. Edit: alternatively, he could've thrown in an LOL or two.
  19. I like it. I don't know anything about audiomag politics, but does this mean they've screwed themselves out of future reviews?
  20. Heh, I've reread the posts more than I should have, probably.
  21. I managed to talk myself out of these by saying that my future headphone amp will eventually serve as a preamp, or maybe even a combo amp, in a future speaker system, so I might as well stick with stuff that's cheaper and harder to drive. And I don't need uber high end stuff on the go.
  22. Could you explain that last part to me? I have no idea how these things work, but I was picturing the following setup in my head: PC -> sound card with wordclock <-> ULN -> amp How does the DAC interact with the sound card? I would only need the sound card's drivers to work with Windows? Does my imaginary setup even make sense?
  23. Did a little research on this one. No Windows support at the moment, and the timeline for Windows drivers is unknown. \ They use the AKM 4393, which I'm not familiar with. Same as Behringer and Little Dot supposedly. Thoughts?
