  1. ^Oh, are you Josep on HF? If so, there is about nothing to indicate you're the same guy.
  2. Man, I'm retarded. Didn't realize the SDR-4000S Pro was a current production unit... didn't think it'd be much different than the SDR-2000 DAC, but I guess it is. Anyways, it's looking more and more likely that I'm eventually gonna buy one of these Berkeley units used. Woot Berkeley. Despite the students' relative unattractiveness, we sure pump out some good nerds.
  3. Yeah, I'll readily admit that I'm not up on my audio guys; thanks for some perspective. I didn't really doubt his credentials so much as I would've liked more specific comparisons than the one. It seems like his comparison came to about the same conclusion as yours. If the August meet also has a Spectral (can I assume that? ), that'd be pretty awesome. I'm just hoping the Sonic Studio/Metric Halo compares favorably, so I can just buy a good cheap source already.
  4. Yeah, he says it's like the best high rez DAC he's ever heard, but I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THAT MEANS. He compares it to a CD player but then tells me that it's not a good comparison, because they're totally different. 2 digital sources that both do redbook are that different? A real peeve of mine is reading general statements like "best blah blah I ever heard" or "betters products costing twice as much" without any reference. Is your $500 amp better than a $1000 Amphora? Or a Beta22 that cost $1000 to build? Am I, the reader, expected to know everything they've ever heard by heart? I bet they're just going from memory and different system components, too. I could be all wrong, though; maybe Robert Harley is a paragon of a reviewer who's heard everything under the sun. Am I supposed to know this?
  5. This thing is honestly tempting me, and I don't even know why. Only managed to find 1 comparison, and that was in TAS.
  6. All I think about near the end of the workday is gym...
  7. I much prefer foobar, too, because itunes just killed my old computer. Also, I hate converting filetypes.
  8. You like Rakim but not Nas, I take it? I can see why people would prefer the originals, but I can't get with that real OG stuff. The beats and rhymes sound downright primitive to me. Like listening to Robert Johnson instead of Stevie Ray...
  9. As much as I dislike Apples as computers, they're really the way to go for audiophilia, huh? =(
  10. So has anyone discovered any good recent rap? I got the Stoupe solo album recently, and I'm enjoying it like I enjoy everything he's ever done.
  11. I'm not sure if I mentioned them before, but one of my favorite melodeath bands that nobody talks about is Insomnium. I have no idea why they don't get that much love, but I've enjoyed their albums more than bigshots like At the Gates and Arch Enemy. They may be my favorite melodeath band, actually... Other than that, I love me some good-time American hard rock. Not dark at all, but serious fun. Anybody else like Municipal Waste?
  12. Good one. Hoops news has been like the most exciting part of summer sports for me. Well, until the Lakers got Ron. Game over, man. Kobe is now on his way to being arguably the greatest Laker ever.
  13. I don't care if the congratulates the Magic or not. Sportsmanship is nice, but it doesn't get you a championship. Some of the greatest winners of all time were true assholes, and I don't think Lebron has reached that point. I still like him.
  14. I never figured out whether it was Lebron or Nike.
  15. Naaaahhhhh.:basement: OK, fine, I'll admit bowls are better balanced, clearer, and probably better for most "music." But the reason I went and got these was because I didn't feel like any of my current inventory were doing justice to my death metal collection. As much as I enjoy the audiophiley smoothness, detail, etc of many of the high end phones, I always felt that the majority of them didn't quite have the balls. Well, HF2s with flats is fucking balls out, and I'm willing to sacrifice comfort and endure a little muddiness to have those drivers right up on my ears.
  16. Is that balanced? I don't have much experience with the stock 1/4". Balanced sounds pretty amazing to me, though.
  17. I would be all for a recable and conversion to say HC.
  18. I think OP needs to say what's important to him. I think the O2s are technically better, but I'd personally never get them for myself. I would consider HD800s, though. I basically agree with padam.
  19. Darn, I was gonna rephrase that, but had to take a pee break. I meant expensive headphones and cheap other stuff.
  20. HF is full of good headphones, blah amps, and blah sources.
  21. This thread sure degenerated suddenly... Anyways my only real complaint is I wish the cable were longer. Everything else about HF2 is gravy to me.
  22. I agree that they're very aggressive with flats. Too aggressive? Well, I didn't buy Grados for classical...
  23. Fuck, these HF2s are fun with flats. Grado goodness all up in my grill... FAT ass sound.
