September 15, 201213 yr It's cool, I have 25 weeks to train for it. Also, last week in NYC I realized there's the magical thing called "taxis." It's brilliant. Chicago should look into 'em. **BRENT**
November 11, 201213 yr So, I'm thinking about taking the Amtrak from AA on Friday, and arriving in Chicago at 4pm. I wouldn't probably be up for the show that day, but dinner/drinks, etc. Then the show on Saturday and Sunday. Would that be a reasonable plan?
November 12, 201213 yr That sounds great! I plan on making the show for at least one day, and ought to be able to do dinner and drinks, as well! I already bought my tix. Keep in mind that Union Station is in Chicago, while Axpona is by O'Hare. You'll have to decide if you want to stay closer to dinner/drinks or to audio. I also have a sofa and floorspace in my basement (which is where the A/V and beer is!). Not much of an offer, but the price is right! Welcome to the Midwest, it's great to have you!
January 10, 201313 yr Cool! I'd love to take it. I've bought my plane ticket and at some point need to buy my show tickets.
January 10, 201313 yr Forgot to post my travel details: Arrive Friday, March 8 3:58pm at Union Station (via Amtrak) Depart Monday, March 11 10:25am at Midway (via Southwest)
February 9, 201313 yr Author Anyone else have plans to join us? Looks like we have a 4 man crew for Saturday and Sunday – Mike G, John, Marc, and myself. John and Mike G: how likely is it that you can or want to go to the show on Friday? If you want to pass, I think that'd be okay since Marc is arriving later. Maybe we can gather at my place? Mike G: did you want to crash in Oak Park during the weekend, or any particular night? Marc: on Friday, instead of Blue Line, take Green Line CTA towards Harlem and exit at Ridgeland. I'll pick you up from that stop whenever you arrive. I think John is the only one who has actually bought tickets, so we need to remember to do that. Edited February 9, 201313 yr by Aura
February 9, 201313 yr I doubt I can turn this into a whole weekend deal in light of my recent weekend trip. But I can probably plan on one long day of something. Maybe Sat afternoon and night? Or something along those lines ...
March 3, 201313 yr If anyone listens to the Daedalus speakers, can you post your impressions? (website says they are on the 9th floor in the King Exhibit room)
March 9, 201313 yr Author Here we go. Starting at Audio Engine, John is interested. These really are tiny ass cabinets.
March 9, 201313 yr Author TEO Audio. Throwing a big soundstage here with lots of depth moreso than width. Edited March 9, 201313 yr by Aura
March 9, 201313 yr Author Audio Note. I think these are too far into the corners. Midrange is decent. Edited March 9, 201313 yr by Aura
March 9, 201313 yr TEO Audio. Throwing a big soundstage here with lots of depth moreso than width. Needs Moar Toobz! Edited March 9, 201313 yr by Voltron
March 9, 201313 yr Author Madisound. Not really listening, more a sales room and the rig is way quiet.
March 9, 201313 yr Author Deadalus in the Purity Audio. Playing some fucking smooth jazz and I refuse to give impressions off this shit.
March 9, 201313 yr Author Okay heard some other stuff in the Purity room and I'm underwhelmed. I'm not getting much warmth. Need to revisit, I think this can be better. Edited March 9, 201313 yr by Aura
March 9, 201313 yr Author Mytek. Cool multichannel DSD and some recognizable amps that feel like they're crushing these Sony's.
