September 26, 200916 yr Only one cellist, though. I mean, if you're going to go string quartet, there's the whole String Quartet Tribute to... series, including several metal bands (Tool comes to mind; I also think the Joy Division/New Order one would be enjoyed, though they're not metal, they are instrumental [all of them]). Rodrigo y Gabriela? Not cellos, but (a) rawk ( instrumentally.

When Tower had its last annual sale (before they announced that they were closing forever), I know a guy who spent over US$3K. Let me spell that out for you: three THOUSAND merkin dollars. October 15, 200916 yr Author Al, Mike or jp# any of you guys get the Impulse! 45 reissues that just came out? I'm curious where they were pressed.
October 15, 200916 yr Al, Mike or jp# any of you guys get the Impulse! 45 reissues that just came out? I'm curious where they were pressed. I have been dawdling on these -- especially because of the other two series I am in for the Blue Notes -- but I have contacted AS to see about signing up. I asked about where they were pressed when I emailed Heather. At least one knowledgeable SH Forums guy with the first three titles thinks they were pressed at Pallas. From talking with Steve Hoffman previously, it seemed that he had worked on the first 7-8 titles and of the first 12 sides, 10 had his initials in the dead wax along with Kevin Gray's. That would seem to confirm he was involved to an extent, although KG will do a great job solo as well.
October 16, 200916 yr I wanted to post something here because I posted about buying some HD Tracks recently and others were talking about doing the same. On Computer Audiophile they are saying that there has been some credit card fraud that users believe originated from HDT purchases. Luckily, I used Paypal and don't see any problems associated, but I have not been able to get onto their site today, so here is the link for anyone interested: WARNING! HDTRACKS.COM SITE IS STEALING CREDIT CARD INFO | Computer Audiophile
October 17, 200916 yr Author Yesterday Nothing like strolling into Half Price Books, picking up 8 classical LPs (including one 6 record box set of Haydn symphonies) for $14 after tax to have all of them play perfectly, except for a bit of surface noise on one of them (and only on one side). I need to: 1) move the fuck out of New England 2) get more half days 3) major upgrade for my vinyl setup 4) and feel a bit shitty for buying so many $50 jazz 45s
October 19, 200916 yr Al, Mike or jp# any of you guys get the Impulse! 45 reissues that just came out? I'm curious where they were pressed. Plunge taken on both AP (25 titles) and ORG (7 titles) subscriptions. First 3 from AP and first two from ORG on their way to me today. I love the Impulse! stuff so I had to do it. Heather at AS confirmed that it is her understanding the AP titles are pressed at RTI. Here's to hoping they do them right.
October 19, 200916 yr Do you know if the Blue Note SACD remasters have run into any issues? If not, I think they've really dropped the ball seeing as the LPs keep coming but the SACDs have all but stopped for the past 6+ months. =/
October 19, 200916 yr They seem totally disorganized and I am amazed how long they can drag out these releases. I have not seen anything on the SACDs for a long time. I would check the Hoffman forum for info.
October 19, 200916 yr Hit HD Tracks, via Paypal of course, to buy my first Hi-res albums. Nancy Bryan - Neon Angel - APO The Kinks - One for the Road The Kinks - State of Confusion Chesky - Area 31 Chesky - Audiophile Voices Monty Alexander - Calypso Blues Valerie Joyce - The Look of Love - Chesky
October 19, 200916 yr Hrm... took a look at what's being said in the SH forums and it seems people are blaming the legal department for the backlog in addition to the backlog that exists at the few SACD plants remaining. Hard to say since none are really substiantiated from what I can tell.

October 20, 200916 yr Author Phish - Joy (Box set) Phish - Joy (vinyl) King Crimson - Red (CD/DVD-A) I am reading on SH forums that the high res stereo layer on the DVD-A discs sounds very good. Too bad I am hopelessly lost to seeking out UK Island pink rim LPs
