So I just bought two albums that I first heard about in the "What Are You Listen To" per jpak's posts:

It was actually watching the video on the amazon page that made me realize I absolutely had to own Mirrored. Check it out, its gnarly as hell:

I want to get some Ella Fitzgerald.. Any suggestions for an Ella newbie?

I know it's pricy, but, "The Complete Ella Fitzgerald Song Books" is a great set. I always enjoy putting that on. Also her CDs with Louis B Armstrong are great. I'm a fan, but my wife absolutely loves her. I haven't heard a singer IMHO that can skat so naturally and well on the fly like her. Good luck :)

Went a little apeshit at Rasputin and Amoeba when out in California. Here's the beginning of the list:

Fear Falls Burning & Birchville Cat Motel

Fear Falls Burning & Nadja

Hirsche Nicht Aufs Sofa -- Im Schatten der Moehre

Robert Rich -- Humidity

Martha Argerich, Michael Collins, Nelson Freire, Chantal Juillet, et all -- Bartok, Liszt, Prokofiev, Music from Saratoga, Live

Chris Connelly -- Episodes

Peter Gabriel -- Birdy (SACD)

David Bowie -- Ziggy (SACD)

Allman Brothers -- Live at Fillmore East (SACD)

Momus -- Stars Forever

Brightblack, ala.cali.tucky

Alchemist, Tripsis

The Crown, Crowned Unholy

Winds, Prominence and Demise

Ulver, Shadows of the Sun

Electrelane, No Shouts No Calls

Edward Ka-Spel, Pieces of (infinity) (with infinity cleverly being represented by a sideways "8")

Fujiya & Miyagi, Transparent Things

Elend, A World in Their Screams

Strings of Consciousness, Our Moon is Full

Electric Soft Parade, No Need to be Downhearted

Freezepop, Fashion Impression Function EP

Young Gods, Super Ready/Fragmente

Ghost, Tune In, Turn On, Free Tibet

...and that's just the Rasputin haul.

those Bill Evans Village Vanguard discs are great!

Woot  I can't wait. BTW, what Jake disc did you purchase Reks? I really this disc I brought on Saturday called "Waling Down Rainhill". Hope you enjoy em :)

i haven't purchased any yet, unfortunately, but i have Dragon on my amazon list for the next time i make a purchase (i like to get a few discs at a time for the free shipping). so, as soon as i decide on some other stuff i want, i'll be getting that one. :)

you should sign up for amazon prime to get the free two day shipping for $80 a year. Its king.

Thanks for the update Reks. Best of luck and I hope you really like it.

Thanks for the info Jack. I didn't know about the 2 day shipping.

i used to be part of Amazon Prime, i found out that i really don't buy enough from them in a given year to make it worth while.

Fair enough. I make lots of purchases from amazon.

Why buy the complete and the album? It's all on the complete box.

The Amoeba haul:

Notwist, Only in America

Peter Gabriel, Shaking the Tree (SACD)

Real Tuesday Weld, London Book of the Dead

Clay People, Waking the Dead

Yes, I know, I blew a wad. I got carried away, and I've been having DT's from Tower, so it's the first time I've been in a good music store in a while.

They have vinyl, too.

All this for less than $90. ;D

I should have them in a week or two, and then I'll actually have decent copies of Costello (all I have now are crappy mp3 rips).

damn thats a lot of shit. I might have to ask you to rip me one of those EC albums ;)

Forgot to add

Tori Amos - Under the Pink

the Rhino reissues?

Nope, they're all new Hip-O reissues. I've browsed through SH forum and the general consensus was they used the same masters. Also, I would have had to pay a whole lot more for them if I bought Rhino reissues. As it is, with the exception of Ben Folds stuff, I basically paid for only shipping & handling for the CDs.

Rare Mike Oldfield Amarok Promo CD, ?26

Mike Oldfield - V, never even heard of this Oldfield release before, couldn't find any info. Thus I had to have it. ?17

It's not a Mike Oldfield release, per se -- it's a various artists compilation from Virgin Records, on which Mike Oldfield appears. I ran into the same thing (never heard of it, discovered it, had to have it immediately). IIRC, there's some good stuff on there -- I think Tangerine Dream and Klaus Shulze...nope, found it -- just Tangerine Dream, no Klaus Schulze, but there's some Henry Cow, Hatfield and the North, and other good proggy stuff, if you're into that. I have no idea what that Tom Newman collaboration is.

Thanks muchly dude, a little miffed that its not a purebred Oldfieldian effort :(, but the contents sound like they should certainly please me anyway.

Bunch of repurchases:

Ween - GodWeenSatan: The Oneness

Ween - Chocolate & Cheese

Ween - Quebec

Ween - Live In Chicago

Ween - All Request Live!

Ween - Friends EP

Grateful Dead - the new live thingie, road trips.

preordered the Phish Live In Vegas '96 CD.
