The Monkey
I'm looking for some decent surrounds and don't want to break the bank. I've read good things about KEF and PSB as overperformers. Any others?

The Monkey
KEF What is your budget? Bookshelves? Floorstanders? Floorstanders, most likely. Budget around $3k.
mulveling
Floorstanders, most likely. Budget around $3k. Floor-standing $3k speakers for surrounds? A bit confused as to whether you mean a 5.1/7.1 setup, a pair of rears, or a front 2ch setup? If the latter, then this: http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?spkrfull&1210946909 Truly fuzzy speakers, in every good sense of the word. Yes, that is black velvet. I have 'em, love 'em, next stop for me is Prestige line. They sit on agon for ages because hardly anyone in the US has heard the good Tannoy lines. The Monkey
Sorry, I mean 5.1 (maybe expand to 7.1 later). Not sure if floorstanders are the way to go or smaller on stands? I just don't want a box o' crap surround setup.
The Monkey
Does anyone have experience with Aperion?
n_maher
Is that $3k for 5.1? or for just the front 2?
postjack
i'm a bit confuzzled as to how many speakers you will be purchasing and what application they will be used for. because at least to me, once the price hits three large my buck ain't bangin'. The Monkey
Sorry to have been less than clear. This is not my $, I'm trying to spec out something for my dad. It is for a 5.1 HT system, so 6 speakers. I figure 3k gets something pretty good, but I am sure he'd be happy to spend less.
luvdunhill
best bang for your buck? Easy. Vandersteen 2ce signatures. Spend the rest on gear, music, and appropriate libations.
zippy2001
I would check out the Quad L-ite speakers http://www.quad-hifi.co.uk/downloads/litebroch.pdf I love my Quad 11Ls, very musical, accurate and reasonably priced.
Dusty Chalk
I second the Quad 11L's + sub.

He will have a bunch of System-Audio speakers you can check out. The SA-505 or SA-705 are great in a 5.1 set up. Just a thought.
