Steve Hoffman/Kevin Gray Blue Note Remasters to be Released on SACD!

...and then there is the 20 disc verve set.
More specifically, it's an Impulse! set. It's going to be awesome...A Love Supreme, Blues and the Abstract Truth, Black Saint and the Sinner Lady, etc.

Hrm where's a place I can subscribe to the verve business?

I had been communicating with Kaci at AcousticSounds, but got a return email from Heather, claiming she is now the go-to person for these SACD questions.

heatherl at acousticsounds.com

And apparently mine have shipped via Fedex :prettyprincess:

Yar that is the same as what happened with me... accousticsounds can hook up the verve subscript too? Excellent! I couldn't find mention of the discs on the site but I didn't dig ultra hard.

Iirc, I just happened to bring up the subject of the Verve material while in talks about the blue note material, "btw, put me down for the Verve sacd subscription" or some such. And they said sure.

I know I have an Acoustic Sounds catalog with verve sacd info plastered on the cover.

Any information on the 2nd set of Blue Note reissues? I didn't see anything about it on the acoustic sounds website. I found information on both the first one and the impulse releases though.

afaik 2nd set is done by Kevin instead of Steve. They are in preorder phase right now, hopefully not as long of an incubation as the 1st set was :palm:

Kevin Gray is no slouch. I'm definitely interested.. but eh I should let some of my other big up coming purchases resolve first probably..

I'd love to have those BN reissues, both music maters and acoustic sounds.

But my income just got cut by 1/3th...:( bummer!

So... given the fact that these are taking so long, has anyone considered getting the Audio Wave XRCDs?

I feel your pain. My salary got cut by 20%, and my wife found out her job has cut bonuses this year. Anywhere from $10K-$20K for those.

The Music Matters ones will be mastered by Alan Yoshida. The discs I have mastered by him are very good, though ever so slightly on the dry side.

Completely agree. Deepak - you have some golden ears!

A little EQ with most of his masters can go a long, long way. ;)

There's been a bunch analogue productions vinyl coming out, and its usually the same titles on a delayed release for sacd, so we should be seeing like 5 or 6 titles soon, minimum. I think.

I'm still skeptical, but would definitely like to be surprised. AP has missed a bunch of release dates for SACDs that AP has stopped putting them up. I remember over the summer at least a couple were supposed to come out. Those same ones are still not out and the first 25 for LP are finished (correct me if I'm wrong about the LPs).

They really dont know what they're doing, but thankfully they aren't the ones mastering the stuff.

It will come out when it comes out, and we'll take it like the masochists we are.
