Carly Smithson Joins Original Line-Up of Evanescence; Group Launches New Band

American Idol powerhouse vocalist Carly Smithson is joining the original guys of Evanescence, who are relaunching as a hard-rock band called The Fallen.

They'll make a formal announcement Monday in Hollywood, with a news conference and their first live performance. Debut song Bury Me Alive will be available at that time for free download at wearethefallen.com.

The lineup consists of Smithson and three of the four original members of Evanescence

The single isn't up on the site but yes, I'll give it a listen for sure. It can't hurt for any longer than it takes me to hit stop.

No, the thing I didn't like about Evanescence wasn't Amy Lee, it was the lack of melody in the music, so I don't think I'll be checking this out.

Heck, I didn't even know they had broken up.

It absolutely interests me. Carly is a real power singer, and this looks like a really good fit.

The "Idol" relationship that really interests me more than any would be Adam Lambert as Queen's new frontman. If that should work out I'd be all over that first album.

Thanks for the link. I liked the song...although she sounds a lot like Amy Lee. I will most likely buy the CD when it comes out.

She sounds a lot like Amy Lee but there's a little more roughness in her voice. Plus she seems to drown out the band more than Amy. And listening to "Evanescence II" has made me realize that it was decidedly... stale. I think the time for Evanescence has passed but who knows.. people will listen to anything that record companies promote hard.

I like evanescence so I'll be checking this out.
