I'm about to get a tube headphone amp that uses a pair of 300B tubes and am looking for any recommendations on reasonably priced tubes (under $300 / pair).

I'm thinking about getting the JJ Tesla, but would like to hear any other recommendations on 300B tubes.

Seriously, for an amp of that level you shouldn't be settling for anything short of the upper tier stuff. Grab the Emission Labs 300B, costly, but still not Western Electric prices.

I got my pair of new production WE 300Bs in the fancy wooden box for $500 on Agon.

I'll have to wait to get some nice tubes, spent too much on the family for xmas. Maybe I'll try to get some later, that's why I have to go cheap on the tubes for now.

Hrm did you get Craig's take? I know he's gone through a lot of the new production 300Bs with BA customers and I think there were a few strong recs.

I know he has several different brands of 300Bs to listen to. He didn't have any specific recommmendation.

Has anyone heard the PX-4 tubes? Craig said they sound better than most 300Bs, but tube options are limited to KR or Sophia.

After touching base with Craig, I've decided to go with the Sophia Princess PX4 tube.
