I've never been able to get last.fm to work with foobar when using ASIO4All. Basically last.fm starts up when foobar does, but I get an an error message similar to when another program has been opened before foobar. I'm sure the answer is simple, but google provides no solution. Computer as source folks, help me out?

I think anyone that likes kraut rock should give this a listen. Like Amon Duul or Can on steroids (or more drugs). This is one of my favorite albums in the last few years. ...just looking at the album art you know this is going to be some crazy drugged out Germans making crazy drugged out music. Originally released in 1972, came back in print with Garden of Delights in Germany. Also available on vinyl (kinda pricey). The entire album is 10 tracks of progressive kraut, a pretty good rollercoaster of music. There's the non-stop guitar shredding, shrieking male vocals, female chanting, slow droning synthesizers pretty much everything you'd think of that…

At 2 am, me on lead vocals, my friend on guitar and backup vocals. http://download.yousendit.com/441B20A4642B386E We were fucking around, and realized at about 4 that we had recorded like 18 songs, then we did 2 more in the morning. All improvised. It's pretty stupid, but it does get better as it goes. The highlights are probably Merlin, Godzilla, For Pluto, Everyone's Sleeping... And You Should Be Too, and Lazy Frog. But really they're all great.

As some of you might know, I once played Slayer and Guns n' Roses on a Quad ESL-57 system. Surprisingly, the audio gods didn't smite me for this blasphemy, and thus it was learned that Quad 57's don't exactly rock. Recently, Biggie has mentioned playing Slipknot to stress audio gear, and Dusty Chalk admits to blasting NIN while auditioning speakers, while I've inflicted Metallica and Fear Factory on various systems. Which brings me to this topic, lots of people play Norah Jones, Diana Krall, and Miles Davis when auditioning systems or writing reviews, and then they oooh and aaahh at how warm, intimate and real it all sounds and give it an A+ rating. Which would be grea…

I've been listening to this Schumann Cello Concerto: and am looking for more like this, but maybe even sadder, with a greater sense of longing. It helps if there are lots of complex passages as well. Maybe just drop a few composers on me, and their specific pieces, and I'll hunt down the performances. obviously I'm a total classical amateur. so any help is appreciated.

I know most of you probably already know this from reading over at the sh.tv forums, but this is too exciting not to mention here. Quoted from Steve Hoffman: "As most of the world knows today, it has been announced that Rhino/WB/Reprise has undertaken the most ambitious vinyl reissue program of any major label in recent history. Spurred on by a vinyl lover high up in the Warner Bros./Reprise records administration, I can now reveal that Kevin and I have been remastering for Rhino 180 gram vinyl the cream of the WB/Reprise back catalog for release. Mastered at AcousTech and pressed on virgin vinyl at RTI, Camarillo, these albums will feature the original artwork, …

Just a reminder for those yourmusic members for whom the price increase didn't take effect on the first of the year: today is the last day to place an order at the $5.99 per cd price. I just got through wading through the entire rock/pop section A-Z, and have got myself a mighty full cart of music. And I haven't even thought about which Miles Davis boxed sets to get yet.

The single Earth Intruders is on the net and radio. Produced by Timbaland, very different from her other songs but IMO very good and continues to show how diverse a producer Timbaland can be.

I've never listened to any solo Lennon, aside from of course the single "Imagine". I am hoping to explore his music further, and am looking into picking up Plastic Ono, Mind Games, and Imagine. There is much debate over at SH forums as to whether the MFSL Gold CD versions are acceptable, since they are remixes. An eBay seller (CD LTD) has tons of copies of all three for around $25 apiece shipped. Feelings on remixes aside, I was wondering how folks here felt about the sound/sonics of the MFSL versions of the above three albums. If not the MFSLs, I'll probably hunt down some inexpensive vinyl versions. Or the new MFSL vinyls, but I heard new MFSL vinyl is noisy.

Who else is looking forward to the SACD release of Surfer Rosa? I have high hopes for this one, since it's supposed to be re-mastered from the original analog tapes, and it's MoFi, so at least on paper, it looks like a winning combination.

I'm listening to a 24/96 needle drop of Black Sabbath's Paranoid. Exceptional drop from the first pressing of the USA vinyl. Comparing it to my retail CD (which is also an early pressing really good quality) and the difference is great. Hearing the impact from the drums, and weight to the electric guitar As if 300-500 mb FLAC rips weren't big enough
