Just received my, bought used, and wonder which year of release are yours please. My is from year 1988 made in Germany with old fashion big double CD case. Looks like the first run, but I am not sure, cos most of what I see on Ebay now are year 2000. I was simply wondering if there any quality differences between 1988 and say 2000. To know this you have to hear them side by side, so, maybe someone had the chance to do so, please share then...Not that my are bad, but its just 20 years old, quite exceptional, for me anyway. THX

So... I subscribe to several BBC podcasts, most are from the output of BBC Radio 4 such as Thinking Allowed, Material World and In Our Time. I downsized the number to which I subscribed at the start of the year after I realised that I had no hope whatsoever of managing to get through an unheard backlog of over 4000 podcasts with an average running time of between 30 and 45 minutes. Some of them I'd never even listened to once and it was just the hoarder archivist in me which kept them. I now have a couple hundred unheard, but the number is decreasing steadily. I just picked this up a week ago on vinyl and CD. I haven't given the Glow Pt 2 a careful listen in a while. It safe to say that it still holds up with any of my favorite albums. If you haven't listened to this album yet than I highly recommend that you pick it it up. If you get the re-released version then it comes with an entire disc of songs that were written from this period and compliment the album quite well edit: shit. will a mod move this to the music section and delete this edit?

Any of you guys who have an interest in acoustic or early electrical recordings like I do, might find the downloads that Amoeba have made available interesting. If you don't know what I mean about acoustic recordings, they are from the era of recording when acoustic horns were used before the invention and/or the general use of microphones or electric amplifiers. The musicians had to gather around a horn and play loudly so the vibrations at the small end of the horn could "cut" the record master or wax cylinder. This made the recordings of large ensembles (such as an orchestra) difficult and in many instances, instruments were replaced by ones which were capable of pro…

I'm a huge fan. Own every one old and new, vinyl and CD. But the more I listen to "Back on Top" can't stop thinking to me its the the best record hes made. That's among 5-6 killers. If your out and about and see the CD used, grab it! The slow ballads are freaking killer. Listening now, track 5, when the leaves come falling down. GREAT MUSIC!!

Gotta wonder about the legality of this though. I suppose if you really want to have a streaming music server of your files it's safer to DIY it and stay off the radar.
