So, a friend of mine came across an artist recently that has really grabbed my attention. I know it's a bit way off the beaten path, but I'm enjoying it so much I just had to pass it along. Wow I just downloaded a live bootleg of them and I'm amazed. It's piano, bass, and drums, and half the time I can't tell what instruments are playing! It's sort of in the vein of later Miles fusion stuff, but they seem to be inspired by everything (the Beatles cover is crazy). Has anyone heard this band's debut CD? They're spirit's of the 70s, no doubt. I think it's one of the better hard rock albums I've heard in a LONG time. I'm not sure I'd call it a great album, but it's a really solid debut. I'll be watching (and listening to) these guys, I think.

Who has a DVD-Audio player? And what type of music do you like? I recently went thru my collection and found multiple duplicates of some of my DVD-Audio discs. I intend on giving them away to some lucky Head-Case member/s. I?ll post a list and I?ll have to figure out how the lucky people will pay for the shipping (I?m not going to pay for giving stuff away). My one caveat is that I don?t want to give these away so that someone can sell them. So recipients are honor bound to NOT RESELL these discs. So has anyone been following the Mahler thread on Head-Fi -- someone want to synopsize? I want to get a decent Mahler boxset, such as the Klaus Tennstedt from EMI Classics or something. I realize people prefer individual symphonies, but is there any mention of a decent complete symphonies cycle? Or does someone have their own opinion that they would want to share with me? Performance is more important than fidelity, but if it's too bad, let me know -- I don't want any of these 2kHz bandwidth historical recordings.

Here is an idea I had... Idea.. I picked up a cd this mourning called "Artists choice, Norah Jones.. the music that matters to her" at the Starbucks in my side job. it is basically a CD with 14 tracks of music that means a lot to Norah Jones, some tracks are from Billie Holiday to Johnny Cash. on the way home I thought this was a great Idea, to make a cd with a bunch of tracks with music the matters to you, or at least something you listen to a lot. since Headcase is pretty small I think we here can do something like this but for ourselves to exchange to other members here. We all know each others Internet personality and each others gear we use..but we don't know…

See this article [NYTimes] for information on early 'pop' music. Much is available from UCSB. FOR a couple of months now my iPod has been stuck on Stella Mayhew's "I'm Looking for Something to Eat." It's a lurching little waltz-time pop tune, drawled over brass-band accompaniment.
