I have an AGP (yes, it's old) video card with dual DVI outputs. Currently, I only have one working monitor. Are the the outputs on AGP and PCI video card standardized with regard to the location of monitor one and two in Windoes? i.e. is the left DVI out (when looking at the back of the card) always monitor one? Unfortunately, I am not in a position to test this myself. I need the one working monitor I have to be monitor one on the first boot in this instance.

I thought this article from Computerworld was interesting regarding the new technology that will let you sync your ebooks between Kindle and Kindle2 devices and maybe other devices such as the Iphone or Android. Here is a link and I pasted the article below: Shhh: Whispersync could be the real news out of Kindle 2 Whispersync: The Real News Behind Kindle 2 Matt Hamblen, Computerworld Amazon Unveils Kindle 2 The latest incarnation of the e-book reader is thinner, with newly designed buttons and interface, but it's not a radical overhaul. The introduction of "Whispersync" technology may well be the bigge…

  3. Just as an FYI... there is significant clipping/static/popping when using USB audio devices on the new iMac with Fusion drives. Some have had success in eliminating the issue by breaking up the drive group, however this then defeats the purpose of buying the drive. I recommend avoiding the iMac if you intend on using USB DACs until this issue is resolved.

Just a heads up for anyone who wants a great usb drive. NCIX is a vancouver store, but I'm sure there are other online stores that sells this for cheap. I just purchased this. OCZ has a $25 rebate offer right now. NCIX.com - Buy OCZ Rally 2 High Performance 32GB USB2.0 Dual Channel Flash Memory Drive - OCZUSBR2DC-32GB In Canada. OCZ Rally 2 High Performance 32GB USB2.0 Dual Channel Flash Memory Drive offtopic: I love NCIX, they always have sunday savings for a great deal haha.. If you're not familiar with the D/Dock this question isn't for you, but I'm wondering if there are any practical reasons why I can't put a PCI soundcard in there. It's a half-length so virtually every card up to the Lynx should fit. H

Quick (doubtless dumb) question. Why don't my per-application access settings seem to "stick"? Let's say I want iTunes to accept incoming connections -- I go into system preferences/firewall and add it to the approved list. Because I'm not routinely running as an administrator, it will ask me to authenticate before making the change. Fine. But then, every time I restart iTunes it will still prompt me to approve an incoming connection and require me to authenticate yet again. This is tiresome. What am I missing?

Anyone here doing a Microsoft-based HTPC? Just curious what software you choose and why? Choices seem to be (from Engadget poll): ArcSoft TotalMedia Theater Corel WinDVD 9 PowerDVD 8 Ultra SlySoft AnyDVD HD Blu-Ray is a must, and HD-DVD would be nice, though I don't expect to use it (I have the capability, don't intend to track down the software, but if I see some for cheap and have the ability, why not?). Yes, I can google, and have, and will some more, but wouldn't mind hearing from the peanut gallery.

  12. I have Orbi and Asus ZenWifi setups in different places, now I need one for the Michigan compound. Old Apple Airports have gotten us this far. From reviews and best lists, the top contenders seem to be Eero and TP-Link Deco. For what it's worth, here's the main challenge: There are three separate buildings in the compound, the main house with the cable internet connection is down slope from the three story shop/garage/loft set into the slopes and lastly another cottage across from a garage. The in-laws have hard-wired ethernet cables running to two both ends of the main house and the top floor loft in the middle building. The biggest challenge is getting a decent si…

is out. I have it installed on this Mac laptop and my main Linux desktop. It seems faster, appears to use less memory and is more spritely all around. Plugins seem to work better on the Linux version. I haven't tried the proxy server feature. I'm happy to see that they've added a spell checker that works in vBulletin forms, like FireFox has had forever. I like that Speed Dial is now expandable to more than nine items and that I don't have to hold the mouse button down on menus on the Mandriva machine like it was an ancient Mac. (It's the little things that make me happy.) All the features that made me like the browser in the first place are still present and account…

  17. I've been using VitaminSEE with my iMac, but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestion for a good image viewer/browser for Mac? I really miss ACDSee I used to use on my PC, but they don't make the program for OS X.

  18. Raising awareness, do your own due dilligence (check your favourite feeds, Internet Storm Center, &c.): VoidLink was detected around 2026-01-13: Cloud-Native Malware Framework; Linux-based; extremely sophistocated; stealthy; modular, adaptive behavior based on detected environment; Go/Zig/C (dammit, now I have to learn Zig); highly in-depth knowledge of Linux internals... As I saw said about about it elsewhere, "targeting Windows, hackers were in the lobby; targeting Linux, hackers are now in the vault".
