Took mine in for repair today. The video test immediately failed and I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. They have the logic board in the store so all the work can be done locally (which means less chance of damage).3 points

Had to force quit Safari four times in the last hour. I think the universe is trying to tell me to buy a 5K retina iMac with 32 gigs of RAM, although I acknowledge that this is open to interpretation.2 points

What If SHM has been spinning since I got home. I hate to say it but I dont think its likely much quieter than the cheap remaster on Amazon. I'll have to go back and forth to be sure since every album is so different with this preamp. It may be a bit richer though, I'll know more as I compare this week. SHMs are hit or miss, but when they get it right its totally worth the gamble.1 point

My point is I don't care. Not that you shouldn't either. I happily own a GS with 9F movement and a solar atomic Casio, due to their accomplishments as well.1 point

My Citizen E820 movement based perpetual calendar chronograph only gained about 0.0167 seconds a day for the past year. 6+ seconds a year still sounds like a lot, but that's what many mechanical watches can gain in one or two days.1 point

@Ric: Did you and Jeffy make those with his watch? @Rob: I saw that one during the Academy Awards and reversed to watch the beginning twice. Funny that I noticed it was a VPI and seemingly HD800s, but I didn't notice it was Woz.1 point

Totally disagree that SA5Ks -- which I have owned previously -- are similar to HD800s in performance or "sound traits." Besides, most people here have heard both so I'm not sure who your advice is directed to.1 point
