  1. Recovering from the hangover from Bonnie's birthday party. The party, which had a gardening/jewelry theme was a great success. The centerpiece was a beyond fabulous cake, contributed by a neighborhood chef, who doesn't do cakes commercially, but bakes one occasionally if there's a challenge, or if she basically feels like it. (She's a super regular at the Southport, where we had the "do". Photo posted for Birgir's benefit. All but two of the plants are real and were live up until being murdered for inclusion in the cake. It's carrot cake, and the flavor was exquisite. It was surrounded by Oreo "dirt cakes" in plant pots, but I didn't get a picture of it all in proper condition. But the idea comes through. I was blown away.
  2. Had a great afternoon with VPI. I should do more of these here. I will do more of these here. Also finished a cme accreditation form. I hate making these things. Lol
  3. Spent the afternoon at Aardvark Baguette's house listening to his nearing finished setup. Took a camera to take pictures of the system but spent to much time in the listening chair to get the camera out. Sounded excellent with everything I put through it. Was there for another of Chris' patent pending "Deal of the Century Sales" at which I picked up the Hyper Spike rack for my work system and all the Dusty approved purple power cords needed to power the gear for about the price of the original sales tax on the rack.
  4. my favorite thing about burn in is it ALWAYS makes things better. Never once does anyone report that X is good for 1000 hours, then turns to shit.
  5. ftfy (or for me, rather)
  6. SXSW is happening next week (along with the beginning of the F1 season!) and considering how freakin many great sounds will be happening there, NPR has done us a fantastic service and given us a sampler of what to keep any ear open for. (Full disclosure, I haven't actually listened to this but I plan to soon) http://apps.npr.org/austin/

I'll stick with my A. Lange and FP Journe thanks
  8. New 12" fanless "all-day battery" retina Macbook. $1299/$1599.
  9. I was going to make a rational, grown-up post about what a great job SXSW does streaming concerts and what a bang up job Bob Boilen and the NPR gang do at relating the back stories, but anyone who's been at a big music festival knows that there's just no way to "can" the vibe of being there for reals. Maybe one of these days,..

My 2¢, if you're going to build an L-2 you'd want to see what other options might be available rather than the garden variety Edcor.
  11. Damn I wish I wasn't so dependent on a 9-to-5 job.
  12. 45° was warm enough.
  13. Went on a nice long bike ride with the family, with lots of uphill climbs to get here:
  14. The light fixture we ordered for our dining room finally arrived. When Lauren was out doing a newborn shoot today, I got it installed. It's pretty fly... 16 mason jars.
