She sure is, Key-Lime Pie Girl and I have been together since then. Good memory! Rachel remembers you as well and was part of the push for me reaching out to Renato et al. and coming back here. Takes good care of me. We actually got married recently as she wanted her Dad to walk her down the aisle (he has Parkinsons).4 points

Haha, It's been a trip Steve! You really need to figure out your own shit when you have little ones to look after. They both look much more like Mom, but they each have half of my brain. I've come to realize that I'm basically a shaman and a hunter trapped in the same body. Jack/Jackson (my 9yo, soon to be 10) is the shaman. He's super deep and sensitive, always reading or drawing, has spoken like an adult since he was 5 and has most of them wrapped around his finger. Most of the girls in his class and probably a few of the boys have crushes on him and he has absolutely no idea, lol. We're currently reading together while I have my morning coffee. Westley/West (my 4yo) is most definately the hunter. He's like a force of nature, full of personality, turn your back for a second and he's gone, always climbing the highest thing he can find but rarely gets hurt. Lies compulsively, but is *terrible* at it. Lately has been bringing home school library books without taking them out properly and tells us that his friends are giving them to him. They certainly keep us on our toes.4 points

I wished Dinny happy birthday by text. I mentioned that Philodox has reappeared, and suggested that he do the same. He claimed he would take me up on the suggestion and in the meantime he asked me for say hi to the HC crew. So hello mothersfucker!4 points

Recently I had been toying with the idea of streaming and making videos, but had been dragging my feet on actually starting... Then around a week ago I was watching elybeatmaker, a streamer I enjoy, and he decided to raid me when he finished. Ended up being an absolute blast and I think I was actually decent at it. Figured this might be a good way to reconnect with some of the friends I've left behind along the way and rekindle/reapply some of my previous 'obsessions'. Not to say that I don't listen to music anymore, but I'm not as picky as I once was and tend to spin vinyl with the kids on some modest speakers while the ThunderCougerFalconBi... *ahem* McAlister Audio Massive Attack sadly collects dust for the most part. Hoping to change that soon though. Anyway, the shameless plug: [philodox42 on Twitch] I've only had three streams so far, and one was largely a technical test. I'd recommend watching the first bit of the long one as that's when the raid hit and you can see me scramble. I'm actually pretty close to Affiliate after that raid, so a follow would really help and it would be a great way to catch up with some old friends. I can also post here the next time I stream in case anyone wants to chat. Doesn't have to have anything to do with Minecraft... and if anyone here does play Minecraft, lmk and I can send you an invite to my server. PS. If the links aren't allowed, please strip them from the post.1 point

That's great. Thanks. Not surprisingly there's also a Retrospective I set also, but that came and went before I knew and seems difficult to find. I only have Apple Music and Spotify services at the moment, but someone on Spotify created a playlist with tracks from both sets - Johann Johannsson Retrospective... There's also the Last and First Men film (2 LP set)1 point

Oh, interesting (that that exists). By sheer coincidence, I was listening to this yesterday (an EP of Alice Sara Ott playing his music on piano): https://tidal.com/album/4705784111 point

One update on my ailing SR-X1, I went in one last time and coated them again and that seems to have done the trick. No imbalance at all and just some mild buzzing from the driver as some debris got in there. I might go in and try to clean it but yeah... that's the good news. Now for the bad one as I'm afraid the X1's are not long for this world. So this was the first time I took the driver fully apart and whoever designed this needs to go and look at how Stax used to be made. I've never seen them do this before but the diaphragm is only attached to one ring, not sandwiched between two of them. So the spacers they use (also the insulation from the stators) are different from one side to the other. The side with the metal ring is very thin indeed, probably 0.2mm or so. I didn't want to snap a picture as the whole thing is so fragile but yeah, the diaphragm is hanging on 2-2.5mm or so of metal spacer and mine was already lifting off the ring as the PEEK seemingly doesn't adhere well to it. I'm sure I didn't cause this and it is very worrying as they have so small a support for the film. I have some SR-X NB diaphragms here and there they used 4mm spacers and glued on both sides for a much smaller diaphragm. That means the films are still just fine after 50 years in service which I doubt will be case for the X1's. I for one don't see an issue with gluing just one side as I do the same on my DIY drivers, but the contact area has to be bigger and mylar behaves differently to PEEK. Right now this set works fine but I'll continue to monitor it and I'd like to know if anybody else has had these issues. I finally got around to watching this and a few interesting bits, they are clearly still making 009 drivers as they were pulled out of a drawer in the soaking oven even through they are long out of production. Odd that they don't swap them out with 009S drivers as they have done with every other model. I did roll my eyes when only 30 X9000 drivers could be tested by one person... sure... why not I found it interesting that they test the drivers like that, as the reflection off the table is surely messing up the test by loading one side of the driver differently. I always thought they would slot them into jigs with microphones on each side as this way makes no sense to me. Btw. I feel their museum severely lacking... I know a few people who have a lot more Stax stuff in their collection than that.1 point
