  1. Somebody barfed a hairball in my Lazyboy. Bonnie doesn't get hairballs. > Jazz doesn't spend any time in my chair. > So Enigma is the prime suspect.
  2. It took me forever to get a handle on the X3. Now I like it. Executive summary: My sample changed character in the first few hours. Put it in the picnic cooler and leave it there a few days or be prepared to be confused and frustrated a different way every time you listen until it levels out.. My sample drives IEMs nicely; can't drive headphones worth a crap, even easy to drive ones. With an amp and some time in the cooler, it's sounding pretty musical, with lots better resolution than my iPod. (Actually I used closed back headphones and put them under the pillow on the couch. Same thing, more or less, except it pissed off the cats. ) So it's not quite the bargain of the decade unless somebody makes a good sounding, super-cheap amp. (Or depending on your hobby accounting rules, you may count the net present cost of an in-hand portable amp you already have as sunk.) We should probably make a thread on it, since wading through 800 pages of noise elsewhere is, well, life's too short.
  3. It's interesting that Susie gets upset about suitcases. Our cats do the same thing, Enigma especially. Drive safe.
  4. That is one nasty storm. Best wishes to anybody caught in its path.
  5. Interesting that that cage thingie actually provided shielding. I thought they were just for physical protection and looking cool.
  6. They look 701ish to me, which is to say comfy. And moar black. Sensitivity of 110. OK fine. I wonder if it will take less than a bulldozer to drive them. AKG doesn't have the greatest track record for drive-ablity. (Thinking not so much of the K1K, which is supposed to be a pig to drive as the 701, which is nominally drive-able by almost any amp, but sounds like ass on the vast majority of them.)
  7. Wishing Todd the best. And thank you Dusty, that works.
  8. That's "battery service" .oops. how the heck do you edit a post in tapatalk?
  9. Neighbor's tree fell down. No high winds. No car crash. Just kerplop. Meanwhile, a friendly fellow from AAA (from Sea View Gardens, Kingston Jamaica) came to my house to replace the battery on my Crown Vic. Turns out i haven't paid for a new battery for that car since 2006. You've got to love AAA Barry service.
  10. I think Dinny it's on to something. This whole new world of viral/community marketing makes me uneasy. Best thing that could happen would be some legal authority to come along with a flamethrower and scare the living bejesus out of a lot of people. Let's face it, for all the good in online communities and much of the rest of it, there's a tremendous amount of greed involved. marketing through communities costs next to nothing. And there's a sense that there's no risk involved. No accountability. And the day to day culture is corrosive. There's no way somebody can spend all day stealing copyrighted work and keep their moral compass. There damn well needs to be some risk. Bring on a dangerous person, I say.
  11. Excuse me. I see this often and it drives me nuts. In what alternate universe is it proper or normal, or some sort of entitlement, that somebody who needs to be called out should be given an opportunity to work it out privately? Maybe Snowden should have directly contacted the NSA and "offered his advice"? If I do something wrong, will the cops call me up and "offer advice"? That is just not how the world fucking works. If it were to turn out that Alex is as right as rain here and Birgir is full of it, that would all come out in due course.
  12. Thanks guys! I had a great day. We just got back from a lovely dinner at Casablanca. We parked in the...

  15. Did I just see that eel jump out of the water, hang in the air long enough that he could have flown to Cancun and back, and then chase down the GoPro dude? Wowser!!
