  1. I got a new thing and I'm in love. It's a Digitone Keys by Elektron.
  2. Another rough-ass demo of a song I plan to record properly soon.
  3. Happy birthday! I bought you one of these, I hope Amazon doesn't screw up the delivery.
  4. “I have never killed a man, but I have read some obituaries with great pleasure.” I wonder what my friend meant by this when she posted it on her FB timeline.
  5. This sucks. I guess with such a crowded market, they had a hard time selling enough mid-fi units to the mobile masses, and their higher-end units just don't generate enough sales to keep the company viable. I'm not a headphone hobbyist, I wouldn't even call myself much of an audiophile, but I use my HD600 all the time for listening and for musician stuff. It strikes the perfect balance between comfort, good neutral sound, and low enough cost that I don't worry about babying it to keep its resale value in my chaotic studio. I hope they keep making them.
  6. Not really snow related, but here's my forecast. The kids had two days of school this week.
  7. https://youtu.be/sy4o5VZJmU0 Heck. I can't wait for this Deluge firmware update. We're getting wavetable synthesis, MPE support, and a couple of other cool things that I can't recall atm. This instrument and this company, are the best.
  8. I don't know much about interfaces, but the 2i2 seems to be highly regarded by home studio-type people. I believe the 4i4 has midi i/o, for not a lot more money.
  9. Come and get it oh wait we built the wall and you can't.
  10. Home-grown, grass-fed, on-farm butchered, bag-aged (one month), pan-fried striploin. This is one of the best steak experiences I've had.
  11. I never listened to them much and I'm catching up now. Fuck. What a loss, and he was younger than me.
  12. I really like the way the Circuit's sequencer is laid out, and having an 8-track sample-based drum machine with that sequencer is going to be fun as heck. And if it's cheaper than Roland's TR-8s, even better.
  13. What is your current DAC? Are you running it straight out of the computer? For playing music, you'd want a low-latency interface, and most of them have headphone amps with the kind of volume pot you need. Lots of options, but you can't go wrong with the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 as a start. There are cheaper options too, but the 2i2 is kind of a standard, used by a lot of professionals and will be easy to sell if you ever want to do so. There's a "music making" thread in the miscellaneous forum if you want to join us and talk about gear and being creative. Edit: Focusrite currently have their year-end sale on. https://store.focusrite.com/en-gb/categories/clearance/all-clearance
  14. https://www.gearnews.de/novation-leak-zwei-neue-circuit-grooveboxen/?fbclid=IwAR39EJAFsTz4sBd_lBuprLs4XOO2a1abSQBc90aG-GWlODnK9WYS0NtStgA I hope this is true. The Circuit Rhythm looks like the drum machine I've been waiting for.
  15. Oops, I just bought an EHX Platform after watching this video. https://youtu.be/jSR5z3aHbbw
  16. Awesome! I will definitely pick your brain when I get started.
  17. For sure, I'll try it out and let you know how it works. The only thing I can think might be a deal-breaker is if the tape deck has issues with variable speed due to age, beyond the warble that you'd expect, that might cause it to lose sync with the rest of the track. Or, I'm not sure, it might be really noisy depending on how well it's aged. It hasn't been fired up in a long time.
  18. Anyone here use reel to reel tape to add juice while tracking into digital gear? My dad has a Revox B77 and I'm going to try it out. You can monitor the tape-recorded signal while performing, and run that monitor signal into a digital recorder, since the read head is located after the write head. I was thinking of getting a Strymon Deco to add saturation, but if I can save cash and use real tape, that's even more better.
