  1. Looks like Cobra King LTD driver's removable "Spaceport" made of aerospace aluminum will fit nicely into that headphone port, sure to improve sound ...
  2. AMD stock way up. Damn, why didn't I think of buying some..
  3. Forcing Windows and Linux kernel redesign, which is expected to cause 5-30% Slowdown for all Intel chips made in last 10 years.. UNfreakingBelievable. If not fixed at OS software level, huge security risk looms. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2018/01/02/intel_cpu_design_flaw/
  4. Veerry interesting. Amphion is one of my favorite home speaker brands, and I wonder how much their studio line sounds different from their home line, i.e. Argon 3.
  5. Over at Audio Circle. Supposed to be the next great thing in class D. At $700 for ready-to-tighten (no soldering required) 1200 w x2 stereo balanced amp, I am going to get in on the group buy. http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=153645.0
  6. How did I miss this completely?? Inner Fidelity RMAF video:
  7. I was thinking it might be nice alternative tranformer box for electrostats and dynamics (presuming design is safe unlike WEE),.... until I saw the price
  8. Jonathan Valin: "Oh, and I’ve saved the best for last. Not only are the 30.7s the handsomest-looking large Maggies of all time (in their blue trim and snow-white panel covers), they are also among the best deals Maggie has ever offered. They cost $29,000 the pair (release slated for January). That’s not chump change, I grant you, but compared to the price of the six-figure speakers they so successfully compete against, it makes them, perhaps, the greatest bargain in ultra-high-end history. 9. Having recently looked into setting up home wireless audio, I highly doubt Bluetooth will improve "enough" over time, i.e. ever become lossless. Highly touted aptX bluetooth is not even lossless, and even the latest and greatest high-tech bluetooth implementation "aptX HD" is not lossless, in addition to requiring both sender and receiver to have aptX HD capability, which only a few devices currently support. For me, any kind of high-fidelity wireless audio system cannot be based on bluetooth, notwithstanding how much I enjoy my UE Boom bluetooth speaker in my shower. I feel the same way about DAC's with USB input as I do about spdif inputs. These are simply fatally flawed ways to transmit digital audio and should never have been allowed to become de facto standards. on surface, USB seems to have better chance with various "improved" asynchronous methods becoming available quarterly; however, IME, it takes Herculean efforts on hardware and software side, not to mention various USB-enhancing filters, power supplies, and various doohickies for USB to sound "pretty good." Even then, I feel I can play a redbook CD (or better yet a good high-res disc) in a good one-box CD player and achieve significantly better sound quality than the said CD player's USB input..
  10. Now Yahoo admits Every single Yahoo account was hacked, all 3 billion, in 2013 breach https://www.reuters.com/article/us-yahoo-cyber/yahoo-says-all-three-billion-accounts-hacked-in-2013-data-theft-idUSKCN1C82O1
  11. Dang. How did you find out, through credit monitoring? Trying to decide if I want to sign up for Equifax free credit monitoring or not..
  12. I just found some unauthorized charges on one of my credit cards, yet again, and had to go through the usual CC fraud department song and dance. I thought Chipped credit cards were supposed to be safer, but so much for that. There's got to be a better way...
  13. Wondering how people have responded to this news? It's rather annoying Equifax took 40 days to admit to the breach and then offers half-ass and confusing assistance to consumers, which requires consumers to go through arbitration in case of dispute. https://www.cnbc.com/2017/09/08/equifax-response-to-data-breach-leaves-many-consumers-confused.html
  14. Couldn't find formal "Reviews" under the KGSS Carbon or Dynalo Mk II names, but they are discussed in Katz's Corner.. https://www.innerfidelity.com/content/katzs-corner-episode-18-icelandic-wonder
  15. Nice NOS 6SN7's cost stupid money these days, especially the "legendary" ones, so I tend to stay away from gear that sport 6SN7's. I do have a box full of NOS 6SN7's which I hope lasts my lifetime 6N6P, however, means you you'd better like the Russian flavor...
  16. This is Masochism at its finest..!
  17. Carl's Jr Double Slammer Cheeseburger. Had to laugh at its 2.5 inch one-bite size...
  18. I just switched to Verizon's new Unlimited Plan, after which I noticed this: "On all Verizon Unlimited plans you get our fast LTE speeds. To ensure a quality experience for all customers, after 22 GB of data usage on a line during any billing cycle we may prioritize usage behind other customers in the event of network congestion. "
  19. Hmm, we still need the crappy pics..
  20. Have you tried uninstalling Hitman Pro? I found people complaining they cannot uninstall it: "Cons I can't remove it! The online advice on how to do so is all wrong. It doesn't appear in control panel, nor is there a visible folder on the C drive anywhere, nor is it listed anywhere in msconfig, nor does it appear in All Programs, contrary to the advice of those attempting to assist others in my position. "Cons and I cannot find a way to uninstall this without buying their version of "#1 uninstall"
  21. My Liebert GXT2 double-conversion UPS I use for audio developed a "fault," and after some poking around, I traced the problem to one of the 4 SLA batteries being bad, measuring only 5 some volts and unable to be charged by charger. The problem is, Liebert itself seems to have gone completely to industrial grade equipment only and GXT2 series seems to have been long discontinued. The SLA batteries inside are B.B. batteries SH7-12, and B.B. does not exist anymore, although I found some replacement names on the net and ordered one. It's too bad Liebert doesn't seem to make the smaller models anymore, as I really like the sonic qualities of Libert after replacing the fan (very loud) with Nexus quiet fan and swapping in some better AC outlets. How long are SLA batteries supposed to last in UPS environment and should I have replaced all 4 batteries? 0610171351 by drjlo1, on Flickr
  22. Anybody have experience with one of these Wifi (instead of Bluetooth) music box/DAC's? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Wireless-Music-Box-wifi-transmission-decoder-APE-WAV-player-remote/222130019641?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D20131003132420%26meid%3Dfdb19f1b78464569a2db8ce509a62715%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D3%26sd%3D142031670826 Kind of difficult to decipher the poor Chinese translation, but does this DAC seem to be using the Wifi Direct technology or something else? Can't tell what DAC chips are used, etc. Just trying to set up a little bedroom speaker setup, with my Android phone as the main source most of the time, but Bluetooth audio quality has been, well, ...Bluetooth. Another option is to tread into the Android OTG waters. My LG G4 phone is kind of getting long in the tooth, and I would have to get some OTG USB cables, drag down my USB DAC from main audio setup, etc..
  23. That laptop has 2 GB(!) only of RAM and eMMC as hard drive, which is better than spinning HD but not nearly as fast as good solid state drive. Unless there's some real good reason, I am all for spending the $200 on that Core 2 Duo 2008-2010 model in the form of more RAM and decent solid state drive, which is cheap these days. In fact, that's what I did to my Core 2 Duo laptop, and it's still going strong and fast, running Photoshop, etc no problem. Granted, it's not as fast as my i7 processor laptop with more RAM/solid state drive, but that's expected..
  24. Well, I waited all morning for Spectrum service to come out to my house again. After all said and done, he said my account's older legacy Time Warner "codes" clashed with newer Spectrum cable box codes and made a call to fix it. He said since phone reps should have known better and fixed it, I should call to get partial refund. I call and there will be some partial refund, but I noticed Spectrum added additional $10.18 to my last bill on the service call date under "enhanced dvr fee," which I never requested or wanted. Apparently, the only DVR box Spectrum Store had availble they gave me is "enhanced dvr" and that function cannot be turned off and monthly fee must be added. Impossible to waive this fee or even stop from accruing unless I physically go back to the store one more time and get non enahanced dvr. Their supervisor is out until next week. What a pain in the behind and waste of my time..
