  1. Carl's Jr Double Slammer Cheeseburger. Had to laugh at its 2.5 inch one-bite size...
  2. I just switched to Verizon's new Unlimited Plan, after which I noticed this: "On all Verizon Unlimited plans you get our fast LTE speeds. To ensure a quality experience for all customers, after 22 GB of data usage on a line during any billing cycle we may prioritize usage behind other customers in the event of network congestion. "
  3. Hmm, we still need the crappy pics..
  4. Have you tried uninstalling Hitman Pro? I found people complaining they cannot uninstall it: "Cons I can't remove it! The online advice on how to do so is all wrong. It doesn't appear in control panel, nor is there a visible folder on the C drive anywhere, nor is it listed anywhere in msconfig, nor does it appear in All Programs, contrary to the advice of those attempting to assist others in my position. "Cons and I cannot find a way to uninstall this without buying their version of "#1 uninstall"
  5. My Liebert GXT2 double-conversion UPS I use for audio developed a "fault," and after some poking around, I traced the problem to one of the 4 SLA batteries being bad, measuring only 5 some volts and unable to be charged by charger. The problem is, Liebert itself seems to have gone completely to industrial grade equipment only and GXT2 series seems to have been long discontinued. The SLA batteries inside are B.B. batteries SH7-12, and B.B. does not exist anymore, although I found some replacement names on the net and ordered one. It's too bad Liebert doesn't seem to make the smaller models anymore, as I really like the sonic qualities of Libert after replacing the fan (very loud) with Nexus quiet fan and swapping in some better AC outlets. How long are SLA batteries supposed to last in UPS environment and should I have replaced all 4 batteries? 0610171351 by drjlo1, on Flickr
  6. Anybody have experience with one of these Wifi (instead of Bluetooth) music box/DAC's? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Wireless-Music-Box-wifi-transmission-decoder-APE-WAV-player-remote/222130019641?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D20131003132420%26meid%3Dfdb19f1b78464569a2db8ce509a62715%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D3%26sd%3D142031670826 Kind of difficult to decipher the poor Chinese translation, but does this DAC seem to be using the Wifi Direct technology or something else? Can't tell what DAC chips are used, etc. Just trying to set up a little bedroom speaker setup, with my Android phone as the main source most of the time, but Bluetooth audio quality has been, well, ...Bluetooth. Another option is to tread into the Android OTG waters. My LG G4 phone is kind of getting long in the tooth, and I would have to get some OTG USB cables, drag down my USB DAC from main audio setup, etc..
  7. That laptop has 2 GB(!) only of RAM and eMMC as hard drive, which is better than spinning HD but not nearly as fast as good solid state drive. Unless there's some real good reason, I am all for spending the $200 on that Core 2 Duo 2008-2010 model in the form of more RAM and decent solid state drive, which is cheap these days. In fact, that's what I did to my Core 2 Duo laptop, and it's still going strong and fast, running Photoshop, etc no problem. Granted, it's not as fast as my i7 processor laptop with more RAM/solid state drive, but that's expected..
  8. Well, I waited all morning for Spectrum service to come out to my house again. After all said and done, he said my account's older legacy Time Warner "codes" clashed with newer Spectrum cable box codes and made a call to fix it. He said since phone reps should have known better and fixed it, I should call to get partial refund. I call and there will be some partial refund, but I noticed Spectrum added additional $10.18 to my last bill on the service call date under "enhanced dvr fee," which I never requested or wanted. Apparently, the only DVR box Spectrum Store had availble they gave me is "enhanced dvr" and that function cannot be turned off and monthly fee must be added. Impossible to waive this fee or even stop from accruing unless I physically go back to the store one more time and get non enahanced dvr. Their supervisor is out until next week. What a pain in the behind and waste of my time..
  9. Frigging missed the finals of Masters thanks to Spectrum and no TV service Sounds like it was a good one, too. Congrats to Sergio.
  10. Sigh... It's not like Time Warner was a beacon of excellence. But when Spectrum took over, many things have gotten even worse. In no particular order: Monthly bill went up through various reasons including higher prices for newly "developed" bundles/packages. Spectrum got rid of the best mbps per dollar plan and offer either slow or "fast" plans, not the middle one Timer Warner had. My Spectrum cable box keeps stop working randomly, displaying messages like "To receive this channel, call customer care." When called, customer care has no clue, does not speak English, and I have to go through the algorithm hell multiple times until I waste my time to schedule a service call, who only temporarily fixes the problem until it recurs later, just to go through the whole hell over. Yes, I just scheduled yet another in-home service call, with no TV service in meanwhile (which I am overpaying for). When having problems, customers used to be able to call Time Warner, "negotiate" with the customer svc rep to salvage some kind of a "discount package" or other accomodations, especially when you tell them you want to cancel the service. Now, no such thing. Spectrum just plays hard ball and tells you to go pound sand. And numerous other issues well documented at Timer Warner forum: http://forums.timewarnercable.com/t5/Experience/Spectrum-is-one-of-the-worst-cable-internet-companies/td-p/115717
  11. Thanks for the info. That sort of info is not found anywhere else..
  12. I know Audiovalve has issues around here, but I was looking at some amps for possible future planars and perhaps even repurchase of a K1000 (why did I ever sell mine?) and ran across Audiovalve Solaris, which has twice the power output of Luminare. Does anyone know what the power output for SPEAKER output for this thing is? I could not find that information anywhere, power rating into 4/8 Ohm speakers... http://www.head-fi.org/t/781910/audiovalve-solaris-a-super-luminare
  13. Interesting read, as I own 009 and HE60, and I fully empathize that one amp that sounds "right" with one 'phone will sound suboptimal with the other 'phone. As I stare at my big box of 6SN7 tubes, I can't help but sigh at the fact SRX+ uses 6SN7 GTA/B, which I have never found to sound as satisfying as the better 6SN7 tubes. As I also stare at my big box of 12AT7's and another box of 12AX7 tubes, kind of wish SRX+ was in front of me to tube roll 'til cows come home, but oh, well..

  18. I think I heard electrostats for the first time through the Singlepower ES-1 back in the day, so it has sentimental value ... If somebody stuffs in some CCS and puts it up for sale..

Like it, have set up series recording. Hope the writers continue down the classical sci-fi path, with mysterious, thought-provoking ideas.
  22. Has anyone tried a good tube preamp to drive the Carbon, to drive 009, in order to tube-roll the preamp side to tune the final result a bit? Is it an absolute no-no or a possibility?
