Is sitting in the parking lot awaiting opening for a double-double breakfast a bad sign? Kinda feels embarrassing.

Just received today. Except for the material, the clips to hold in place, an upside-down slot for paperwork to fall out, the latch, a logo and the general porportions and a it's just like in the photo.

Like the new screen is like the recent DX fresh you can expect the following contrast changes. Wish the grey background was more white, but blacker blacks likely helps. Still in my Kindle honeymoon, but I certainly read faster on the Kindle than iPad.

Yeah, I have three other USB or USB/Firewire externals, but the trouble is the others miss some other requirement - AC powered, power down can be disabled or I can allocate a sizable partition to FAT32 (due to other needs). Doesn't mean I can't come up with a system to test the SBTouchs functionality, just not daily use without picking up some additional gear (AC adapter for USB powered, another drive, etc.). We'll see if I get around to that in the future. Pretty swamped next two weeks, but maybe I'll run some tests after that. I appreciate your and Grahames past help. BTW, I used the LaCie Grand 2TB in case anyone wants to know model. Wonder if there's a chance it's two 1TB drives masked as 2TB and that is why SBTouch is freaking out? Google turns up nothing.

Actually touch/iphone apps, but audio so who cares how large they are? I've used occasionally in the last year for naps on planes, etc. Ones for naps with alarm at end. Ones for drifting to sleep. Save a bunch, so posting here too... pzizz energizer for iPhone for free - dealmac.com

Didn't make it home at decent hour last couple nights. Still having problems unfortunately tonight. Likely, it's due to the double USB drive mystery. Can switch library to served by laptop. Shut down server on USB. Eject both USBs. Move drive to Mac and terminal in and "sudo rm -rf .squeezebox". Verify it's gone. Move back to Squeezebox and let it do its thing. Start server and switch library back. Still only single (ghost?) USB drive and last played album only found. If I reset the SBTouch I get the two mysterious USB drives and my music. Oh well. Maybe I'll settle on the full server.

Have a Lambda Nova Sig that has globs more glue on them than necessary. When it gets warm, or even the phone not used for an extended period of time, the pads slide out of place (too much glue and not evenly spread). Irritating, but I'm also worried about damage with the glue landing incorrect places. Going to be ordering new pads soon, but wanted to ask if anyone has a suggestion for getting the excess glue off? A cloth type maybe? Narrowing down my phone collection and although I slightly prefer the Novas to the regular Lambda Sigs, this glue issue has me reconsidering what stays and goes. Any help much appreciated.

Damn. A tea-bagger called me 'part of the elite' last week and now this. "People with kind, humble personalities are unlikely to know what the iPad is."

Still an interesting test. How long does your optimism usually last?

I haven't. I was actually optimistically hoping for HFS+ support, but FAT32 was the compromise to move files back and forth. Although it looks like there are ways to get NTFS and ext3 write support in Snow Leopard, they require plugins, which are reportedly buggy. Will relook into it though, especially MacFUSE, but my guess from the complaints, it's not restricted to file systems. Haven't completely given up yet, but now it's running from the full server. Nebby has it gotten past the wipe of the previous USB library?
-
Thanks XXII. 'Wipe and rescan' doesn't appear in the menu unless you've killed the server. Why I didn't see it before. In my case, then unfortunately when selecting, the screen just spins saying 'removing library.' Two times trying and gave up after each took 30 minutes (never got to redetection, but if it did should have taken less than five minutes to catalog the sampling of music). About eight hours into fiddling in various configurations here (four HD repartitions, six SBT resets, etc.), and unfortunately, made a slight realization - none of those defending* the attached USB performance of the SBTouch on Slim Forums are actually using the feature primarily to serve files. Can't find a single example (though if anyone knows one please let me know). Maybe a sign. Full blown server works great, but in my case I bought the SBTouch for two reasons - USB attached drive functionality and feeding 24-bit files to a future JH3a. And of course there are easier ways to do the latter. Anyway, still hoping to find a solution, and may hold on to anyway for the JH3a coax connection and internet radio streaming, but I'm beginning to agree with the vast complaints on the various forums. If you plan on using USB attached, and adding music regularly (so disconnecting), think twice. Course there are no inexpensive alternatives I'm aware of. Curious of the experiences of others here who got in on the sale. * I say defend, because some of the reasoning is quite humorous. Favorite so far attacks a complaint about a nebulous file quantity limit (which seems to fluctuate based on hd used, bitrates and codec, even album art pixel size, etc.). Defense goes if you have 80,000 tracks and each track would've cost $.99 to buy on the net, why in the world would you expect a $299 device to handle $80,000 in files?
