  4. Nope, just remember when they were announced and I thought an interesting idea. Made me jerry-rig a HD-25-1 cord wrap around and shuffle clip trying to emulate.

  6. More tests needed, but I'm pretty sure it was human error - listening to familiar tracks with gear I haven't used in a while - mainly the very resolving 4070. JH13s back to what I was expecting.
  7. Yeah, received mine today. Hooked up to a LaCie Grand here with a quick subset of 24 and 16-bit Telarc/XRCD/B&W Society of Sound files. So far so good. Anyone though find the 100% volume (which I assume is bit perfect output for digital signal - see no place to disable) runs a little hot/distorted? Maybe I'd doing something wrong.
  8. Not as strange as doing a whole movie before realizing Joel Cohen isn't Joel Coen.

  18. Pretty good article. When an AT&T representative suggested to one of Jobs’ deputies that the Apple CEO wear a suit to meet with AT&T’s board of directors, he was told, “We’re Apple. We don’t wear suits. We don’t even own suits.”
  19. Thanks as always Grahame.
  20. Thanks Grahame for the experiment. Really appreciate it. Two other questions, if you don't mind - you have any problems with 24 bit files (seems conflicting reports) and as there are a ton of other issues mentioned on both the Logitech and Slim Devices forums, any words of advice or even comparison to those with SB2/3 experience (and occasional difficulty there)? Are these just newbie Logitech users, was 7.5.0 really that bad, are the developers running for the hills, is this all overblown, etc.? Have to admit it appears a different community since I last visited (back when I had 3 SB3s and contemplating a Transporter) and that makes me a tad nervous.
  21. Can anyone confirm ALAC is natively supported and does not require transcoding (so can be handled by the SBTouch itself fed from a USB drive)? This concerns the sale order I just placed and probably should have thought about first.

Ha. You guys convinced me to buy one. Left the Squeezebox side a few years ago and pretty entrenched in the Apple camp, but thought a USB drive+SB Touch+JH3A-JH16 combo might make a good small bedside high res setup (don't currently have a way to play above 16bits). Worst case it will be an internet radio streamer. I got the same message. Assume it means a future email. Hope it means a future email.

  24. My only suggestion having gone through it recently, is to test iPhone interfaces in person. They can vary a lot. From number of buttons to navigate folder structure to radio only GUI, iPhone only, or both. Also how often you'll be using apps other than iTunes for music (as that head units GUI isn't like to be used and you'd need iPhone control). Afraid there's a reason some of these electronic companies haven't come up with a successful DAP, and piggybacking on other companies GUI can make it even more convoluted. I wasn't looking for phone capabilities, but on the music front I avoided some of the higher-end choices as I preferred Sony's iPhone/iPod interface. After awhile I was using WunderRadio, This American Life, etc. apps often though so it became less an issue (as long as you can control from iPod/iPhone). One Sony negative, it will begin to play a playlist track automatically. There's no way to shut this off. So if I want to listen to a TAL show, I have to let iTunes take over, start to play, pause, then back out and launch the other app (while the first track continues to display on the head units display). And that was one of the better UIs! Also keep in mind most (all?) won't support the iPad. EDIT: Got my Sony CDX-GT740UI also from Crutchfield. They even have an occasional video showing UIs. For example: Sony CDX-GT640UI - Additional images and video
