Grado HF-2 thread
My cat likes to bite... well, gum... my bowls on my HF-1. So I've had to wash them a few times. And it's pretty amazing the difference it makes. They soften up quite a bit and have the best balance of comfort and sound. To my ears, anyway.

Grado HF-2 thread
I had a chance to spend some time with Nate's HF-2s tonight with a Millet Max and my PPA v2. I have to say I came away very impressed. They definitely share the overall sound signature of the HF-1, but there's another level of refinement, detail and extension all the way around. I love my modded HF-1s, but damn. These are great. Want!

Congrats Jay... That's awesome. As for me, I finished tweaking my Samsung Omnia. Verizon, in its infinite wisdom, decided to cripple the phone's GPS capabilities, and while they've said they would unlock it due to the complaints, neither they nor Samsung have done anything about it. Enter a number of fourms and people far crazier than I who found a leaked ROM with GPS enabled, and then combined it and the drivers for WM6.1 with the latest beta of WM6.5. The end result is the phone I've been looking for... It's a pretty kick-ass combination of features, performance and packaging.

The ask dsavitsk thread
I've had my HF-1s paired with a Nugget Audio Millett Hybrid since I got it. I think it's a great match... I love mine with the 12FK6 tubes. My only suggestion would be to try to track down some of the diamond buffers for the Hybrid... It's definitely a step up in all regards.

I vaguely remember news that a new album was in the works, but I had no idea it was coming so soon. Outstanding!

Received and accepted a job offer. Still some paperwork to complete for it to be official, then I give my notice. Looking to start June 22nd. 5 minute walk, more money, better benefits and more interesting work. Win on pretty much all fronts. Needless to say, I'm pretty excited!

Well, you're right. The turning was always fun... The outside shaping of Grado cups went fine. It was trying to drill the end grain to open them up that was miserable. The chuck allows for sooooooo much more without having to struggle with a 2" forstner bit!

What did you do today?
Last week I lost 2 of the fan speed settings on my Jeep's HVAC. A little research showed that it's a common failure of the blower motor resistor block. $18 part, but it's tucked up behind the dash on a duct, and not easy to access. I'd say it ended up taking the better part of 40 minutes to remove the glove box, remove the under-dash light, remove 2 screws, unplug the harness and swap out the part and put everything back together. Maddening! That said, it is a pretty cool design... The resistors get so hot that they mount it to the duct, with the resistors actually in the air duct. That keeps things cool. Unfortunately the part still isn't up to the task and fails often. The fix is to add relays to the back of the fan controls which prevent the resistors from seeing too much current. Maybe I'll give that a shot sometime this summer.

I enjoyed ItAoT quite a bit at the time of its release, but upon revisiting it, it hasn't held up particularly well for me.

I definitely prefer Wavering Radiant to In The Absence Of Truth, but I still prefer Panopticon over everything else... Yes, even Oceanic. For me, the guitar sound on Panopticon is just perfect, and while I prefer some of the songs on Oceanic, the overall sound and production on Panopticon is enough to put it over the top.
