My friend took the day off from work to go see Doomsday today. He's a big fan of Dog Soldiers and The Decent. He thought Doomsday was great. Not as good as the other two, but he said it was, in a word, awesome. I'll see it for Rhona Mitra alone.

I think one of my favorite moments on the album is "Machine Gun" following "Deep Water". It's about as drastic a change as you could come across. Well, that and the shift half-way through "The Rip" isn't too bad either.

I just finished watching the same. Limited time with it, so nothing to report. But it is nice to have the TiVo remote with all the buttons in the right places, even with the Motorola box

The 600 also has an FRP frame, where the 580 is plastic. I don't know if it's an audible difference, but it is worth noting as it was a selling point pushed by Sennheiser.

Hopefully remastered means fixing the channel dropouts in "The Moor" and not brickwalled loud. Should be interesting. MA,YH is still my favorite Opeth album, but this could add new life to Still Life. That channel dropout really drives me nuts, as "The Moor" is my favorite track on that album.

They sound like hell with the pleather pads, with lots of bloated uncontrolled bass. But they are much more balanced and quite enjoyable with the Senn HD25 velour pads, though they definitely lose a lot of bass impact and slam.

Exactly. No Woody Allen characters + no Woody Allen + London = great film. I really enjoyed Match Point, and it's the only one of his movies I can say that about.

Haven't actually paid for it yet, but diagnostic time, parts and labor for the ignition coil for the #1 cylinder of the GTI, and while it's in, getting the coils replaced on the #2, 3 & 4 cylinders and an oil change as well. Should be ready Monday, and forces me to have a nice relaxing weekend stranded at home!

My wireless card was set to shut off after a while to save energy, and I kept having to reconnect. Since unchecking that box it hasn't lost its connection once. Check those pesky power management settings!

Well, I can no longer visit the -fi on my Motorola Q when I'm on the go, which was a majority of the time I actually spent there. So I guess until Can Jam is done and things go back to the way they were, I'm done. I definitely won't continue to scroll right for every thread I click in. As if browsing on a mobile device wasn't hard enough...

Third leaked last week, and I couldn't resist. Here are my quick impressions from the WAYLTRN thread... After listening to this over the last week, there are no weak tracks to my ears, and stand-outs are as marked with by an *... 01 Silence * 02 Hunter 03 Nylon Smile 04 The Rip ***** 05 Plastic 06 We Carry On * 07 Deep Water 08 Machine Gun * 09 Small * 10 Magic Doors 11 Threads ***** Again, it's a hell of an album, though definitely not for everyone. It's not necessarily a love at first listen kind of album (though I did), and the flashes of abrasive sounds can be challenging. But I'm thrilled they didn't play it safe and release some kind of cheap copy of their past successes.

So, given the thread title, is it appropriate to ask if this amp has "the right stuff"?
