  1. Dr. Horrible Cast - Commentary! The Musical So not vinyl. Or hi-fi.
  2. It's really working nicely for me too (I'm on iPhone). Thanks for the effort in updating, tkam.
  3. It seems to me that the releases of the recent Bluetooth headphones/headsets -- the PX 210 BT, PXC 310 BT, MM 400 and MM 450 -- were done awfully quietly, just zero fanfare. Even if Sennheiser doesn't have a lot of new-for-CES product to announce, just getting more attention on these products from last year ought to be worthwhile for them. The MM 400 is darn great sounding IMO. And I don't just mean "for a Bluetooth headphone" or "for a headset." I heard it without knowing it was either of those, and was seriously impressed. (So I guess I mean it sounds great "for a small, comfortable portable headphone," since I did know it was one of those.)
  4. And likely to get still more warlike and bloody if/when the hotly disputed Joo Joo (formerly CrunchPad) goes on sale tomorrow.
  5. Yes, Microsoft has certainly beaten Apple to the punch on tablets. Just like they did with Windows Mobile on phones. No wonder Ballmer looks so proud. That is pride I'm seeing on his face, right?
  6. What thread's that? Can't find it.

Refurb Sansa Fuze 4GB $29 at Woot, today only. $5 to ship.
  8. My understanding is that it's not restricted to T-Mobile, it's just that T-Mobile is the only carrier right now with a subsidized purchase price. It ought to work with AT&T if you have a valid SIM card.
  9. You could try Windows Hotfix KB933262. No guarantee it will work, and I've never tried it myself, but if nothing else you've tried has worked, it might be worth a shot.

Nice deal. I'm very fond of those Eye-Fi cards.
  11. Yamit Mamo - My Angel Put The Devil In Me (Makes more sense after you've seen the Tennant finale just aired.)
  12. If you don't much like XKCD, you will surely not enjoy:

Big fan of the D90 / 18-200 VR combo, which I've been shooting for just about a year now. At either of those prices it's a fine deal. The body is very responsive, generally snapping right in on the focus points I want it to, doing a good job with exposure, and with enough controls to let you easily take charge when you want to without having to go through the menu system every time. The 18-200 VR is a terrific all-around travel lens for a piker like me, though of course it doesn't let you limit DOF the way a pro lens would. I think the II version of the lens in the deals above adds a zoom lock to prevent zoom creep when carrying it around, which is something my rig - with version 1 of the lens - lacks. Kinda wish I had it, but not enough to buy all over again.
  14. I think I'm bound to. But first need to tally up the year-end damage. This is our first year paying taxes in two countries at once and I'm still jittery about what I don't know about the process. And - and I say this knowing I'm inviting a bit of abuse - I actually feel a little bad contemplating unfaithfulness to my beloved ER-4S's. All three pairs, that's the kind of fanboy I am. So, you know, it's going to require some psychological adjustment.
  15. Darn it, Grahame. This feels like the tipping point. I think you just cost me $1100.
  16. The iPhone is audible for me but I have a spare Samsung* that gives great call volume and intelligibility, so I can readily understand how people feel the lack of that when they move to an iPhone. Sorry to hear it's not working out for you, but since its additional features sound like they're not that compelling for you, I guess it's not a great loss. *SGH-J700 - fairly recent, fairly cheap, fairly compact - deadly flaw is that the method to favorite numbers for one-touch dialing is utterly mysterious.
  17. Even if that really is for the now-claimed reason that NYC had too many fraudulent purchases, it's a truly gigantic PR gaffe. I anticipate hurried backpedaling. (Though not hurried enough, apparently, to prevent the amazingly lame "we periodically modify our promotions and distribution channels" follow-up gaffe. Wow, impressive gaffespersonship.) Fake Steve has one post up about this so far, and I doubt he'll let it go at that. Blunders like this are too much fun for just one day of satire.
  18. My wife and I both found we preferred reading on the iPhone/iPod Touch to reading on the Kindle. Eventually we gave our Kindle (v1) to my sister, who likes it fine. There seems to be a consensus that the e-ink screen is easier to read from for most people, but this wasn't the case for either of us. We don't mind the iThing's screen nor its smaller size. Meanwhile the Kindle's page-turn delay was really big ongoing annoyance to me. We both like that the iThings are self-illuminating, and I like the ease of popping out of the reader to go look things up in Wikipedia (I'm that kind of geek). So after a few months of the Kindle getting dusty, off it went. This seems to be minority reaction. But there it is, FWIW. We are pretty likely to get the Apple tablet device, but I don't know how it will fit into our reading routine. We might well prefer a larger form factor for some books - but quite possibly not for all. We'll see eventually.
  19. Actually I remember reading an interview with him in which he said he was glad Keanu took that part - he said he would have screwed it up and Keanu got the tone just right.
  20. Merry birthday and holiday both, Ric!
  21. Not too long ago Justin indicated elsewhere that the GS-1 and GS-X do have a future.
  22. New reports suggest a January 26th introduction. I'd be very likely to buy one even if it's just a bigger iPod Touch. I use the Touch more than I ever expected I would - it's the around-the-house media player / ebook reader / web/mail client that we also take on trips when two laptops feels like overkill - and would love to have something with equivalent functionality that's less cramped on screen space.
  23. In the UK bookmakers offer bets on White Christmas. For a couple days there things were looking pretty good (BBC News | UK | Bookies slash odds on white Christmas) but now it's 6/1 against in the London area http://www.head-case.org/forums/uploads/emoticons/default_sad.png' alt=':('> ([url="http://www.williamhillmedia.com/index_template.asp?file=5011]
  24. Was anything said about JH perhaps making a headset configuration of these?
  25. I'm curious about this myself. I had been looking at the GS-1 as my next likely upgrade from my current GLite (I had Asr's for a while and really liked the sound), but people seem to be saying very good things about the FET-A, and its smaller size would be an advantage for me.
