Whoa! Not sure about having him start Game 7, but I guess that's a possibility. Then just let him go for as long as he's effective and feeling alright. That would be really, really short rest and it's hard to say how his arm might respond to that, just in terms of mechanics and his effectiveness, even forgetting the risk of injury. But if it worked, then maybe you get 4-6 innings out of him as opposed to thinking more like 1-3 innings in relief, so it's an interesting thought.

Opps! Shows how much I know about the Giants! Thought I heard the announcers saying that Cain would probably start Game 6, but maybe they were saying he would be the guy for sure if he was available? Dunno. Heard something like that somewhere? Never mind. I obviously shouldn't have acted like I knew what I was talking about! Oh, and yes, I would think Bumgarner could go for an inning or two if needed in Game 7. It would be about the same time that he would ordinarily do a bullpen session between starts, although that's usually more like throwing at 80% or so. But as far as timing, it's what he would be used to anyway. I would think that most starters would find pitching for a couple of innings after 2 days rest to be more natural and easier than starting a game and expecting to go 7+ on 3 days rest.

Game 6 will be Matt Cain, almost for sure. Game 7 is another matter, but I'd imagine whoever the starter might be, he'll be on a short leash and we might see an army of pitchers by either or both teams, if need be.

Big win for the Giants, tonight. Puts them in the driver's seat, but don't count those pesky Royals out just yet!

I've already ordered the album, so it doesn't feel so creepy listening to it on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sDQbJP0PxUM#t=49 In general, I like the solo versions better, although the orchestral version of "Say Hello to Chicago" is quite nice... and of course no Neil Young album is complete without an interjection of his lib politics and "Who's Gonna Stand Up" delivers on that score.

Ya, exactly. Big win for the Giants tonight. They looked pretty serious, yet are still playing loose and relaxed baseball which is important too. It's been a great series so far, can't wait to see what happens next.

RIP, Jack. Not so unexpected, but still very sad.

I'm guessing this wasn't done in a conceal carry state! It's not hard to imagine someone drawing quickly and blowing his head off for pulling a stunt like this. -
Well that evens the score! This is right where I expected the series to be at this point, but I'm thinking there will be a lot of nail biting finishes going forward. We shall see.

Yup, nice start for the Giants. I don't think anyone expected the Royals to win 12 in a row in the post-season, but this would seem to bring them back down to reality a bit, especially getting beat handily at home.

Yes, there is a blessing in disguise not having to listen to Joe Buck! Glad to hear that you'll be able to make at least one game, and maybe more, Al. Incredible experience, I'm sure.

Happy birthday, Peter!

Welcome back! Love the enthusiasm about headphones. We probably don't talk about them enough around here these days, but find plenty of other things to talk about so it all balances out. -
Just wondering how many of the World Series games Al will be going to and making me green with envy!?!?!? But do enjoy, whether you're in attendance or not. It's not every year that you Bay'ers get to do this... just every other!!! In the meantime, Go Royals! Ok, so I don't really have a strong connection, but did live in town for a year when I was at UMKC, so they're kind of, sort of, one of my teams. But then again, so are the Giants. No connection at all there, but I've always liked the Giants (and boo, I know, the Dodgers, but that's mainly because of Vin and it's hard to blame a guy for liking a living legend who is also a nice, humble old man).

Agreed, as well, and although Joe Buck is generally cheesy as hell to begin with, I thought he made the right call by saying "The Giants win the pennant" just once and then shutting up (ala Vin Scully) and letting the sights and sounds takeover. It was obviously something he had thought about (sounded rehearsed) but still, it was entirely appropriate in my opinion to make that acknowledgment to history.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the people in Bermuda tonight. Looks like a nasty one.

Congrats, Giants! Couldn't believe Matheny left Wacha in after his 4 pitch walk. That just blew my mind. The guy is a great pitcher but #1 he's a starter (and certainly not a 9th inning guy even if used in spot relief), #2 he missed nearly 3 months down the stretch, #3 he hadn't pitched in 20 days. So he was actually doing exactly what you had to expect/fear from a guy who is rusty. He couldn't find his change up. So get him out of there and turn it over to someone who is calm and groomed for the role. Bochy/Matheny was the biggest mismatch in this series...
