Happy Birthday justin!
"I used to be in a barbershop quartet in Skokie, Illinois. The baritone was this guy named Say Ramuels, big fat guy, like orca fat..." So, where was I again? Oh ya, happy birthday, Justin.

Good move, Grahame. I suspect you'll easily notice the difference!

Post the last thing you bought!
Clubman mustache wax. I've been eating too much of my own facial hair lately.

Whoa!!! Seeing is believing. That's some seriously cool shit in the gallery...

And now what did you do TODAY?
I might give it try. I've talked to a few people here who have experimented with some of them, and apparently they "can" work but you have to use sort of biggish things and put a bunch of them around the house at various locations, so I wasn't encouraged. Sounds like I'd spend nearly as much money doing that, and would then end up with something looking nearly as retarded as all of these pecker holes! There must be about 30 of them in the eave bands, on all sides of the house. Might end up ripping the bands out, as opposed to having them repaired only to have to go through the whole process again in a couple of years. Another option would be to cover them with cement board. At some point (funds permitting), I'm going to have to refinish the outside of the house anyway (a stucco sort of thing), so covering the existing bands with cement board might be the best option... but no doubt an expensive one. In the meantime, I'll keep using my slingshot and hoping I don't end up taking out one of my own eyeballs like I nearly did the other day on a ricochet shot that grazed through my hair!

And now what did you do TODAY?
Nothing wrong with it in New York, apparently... As for the peckers in Cayman, they've been drilling all sorts of holes in the styrofoam bands around my eaves, as in item d in the diagram below.

And now what did you do TODAY?
Indeed... Indeed!!! This summer had to deal with dry wood at the apartments, and subterranean at the house. They're all over this rock! But at least once you chase them, they'll stay away for a while, unlike the woodpeckers...

RIP Peter Falk
One of my favorites as well. Something about him always made me smile. He had a way of making you feel that you were "in on it" with him. Not just in Columbo, but in everything he did. Loved the way he played the calm, gentle, old man reading to his grandson in Princess Bride, stumbling for his glasses, etc. So ordinary and imperfect, yet so extraordinary and perfect.

Tom, you might want to check that box to make sure that the flat pads, once they start to disintegrate as they invariably will do, are not going to become "glued" to anything in there that you may want to use one day, like the drivers. If spare flats are kept in a sealed plastic baggie, they can last for years and years. But for some reason, they really don't like exposure to air and/or heat...

Bob Ludwig is no slough either.

hi everyone
If he's 16, then he's pretty much automatically a retard, like we all were. Hopefully, it won't take him 32 years to figure that out like it did for me. I just hope that when I'm 80 years old, I won't look back and see what a retard I was at 48. By then, there won't be any time left to change the game plan! Speaking of feeling like a retard, these days I'm becoming more and more active at my favorite Santa site, a place called ClausNet. It reminds me of the "good ole days" at Head-Fi when everyone seemed to know each other, and for the most part seemed to like each other. I guess that's sort of what we have going on here, except that by now (what, about 10 years later) we've all known each other for long enough to know what a bunch of dorks we are... I think there was a point. Oh ya! So back in the day, random people from Head-Fi would send me private messages saying that they would soon be coming to Cayman on a cruise, usually with Mrs. Headphone Geek in tow as well. So I'd meet them in the harbor, and we would have lunch, then I'd give them a nickel tour of the Island, and then we would become best friends forever for about 6 months. This must have happened a dozen times or so, and they were all very nice people. This week, I've met my first real bearded Santa, complete with his Mrs. Claus. Nice people in their late 50's and quite "normal" (other than his foot long white beard and matching hair). As I was sitting with them having lunch, I couldn't help but to notice how many people were staring at him, and with my 6 month Santa beard (partially grey, but still mostly brown), I must have looked like his son. Then suddenly it occurred to me that maybe I was the strange one!!! Always meeting random people from random hobbies. I mean, really, how exactly does one become a headphone enthusiast to begin with... let alone a real bearded Santa. Damn internet is to blame, with all of these "enabler" websites. But then if it wasn't for this "retard" of a life I've been living, I wouldn't be have any life at all.

hi everyone
It took you 4 years to arrive at Shit and Shit, and you've calling other people retards?

Should I give up on the K1000?
It is wise to be fearful. So, like we said, better tubes would probably help a little, but the LD still sucks raw eggs, at least as a K1000 amp. No surprises there.

You go a good deal, man! They're going to make a comeback! Same with the Houston Astros. Just wait until after All-Star break...

Good news, Todd, and welcome.

Good one, Grahame... "not specifically too good." Long time since I've listened to that; will have to pull it out for a spin.

Ya, but some male bats suck each other off too, not that there's anything wrong with that.

First shot, hand held and without fidgeting with anything, using my 17mm tilt/shift Cannon L glass with the 5D2. Should be a fun lens to play around with.
