Happy B Day!

Awesome pics mate! Is there still earthquake damage visible in Christchurch? A friend of mine works for Radio New Zealand and just when they finished building a new dream facility, wham! It all went down. That's a scary looking couple of mugs your hanging with Mike. Don't let them influence you into doing something bad.

Sad to hear about Meadowlark. He was my fav too. RIP Good to hear from Santa though. I missed hearing your red suited misadventures this year but,.. Happy Holidays my Birthday Brother!

No time (or room) for Anderson's Pea Soup G Man? Not one to screw around in this hemisphere! I'm totally jealous.

Since I've become an old POS, I've found that doing stretching exercises a couple of times a day makes a huge difference in the number of aches and pains I get. I just do 5 minutes in the morning and evening. My tolerance for self abuse and other stupid moves is much higher now.

Looks like a beautiful hall Peter.

Glad to hear you're feeling better Brent!

You might be right Dusty, Maybe the point is that the user needs to get creative regarding which vsti to use on the tracks and edit any commands that don't conform. I guess I'm used to folks wanting the mix to sound like they originally intended.

Happy Belated from me too!

You're doing great Antonio! Like I said, these things aren't easy so be patient with yourself. And don't forget about the manual. IIRC Apple provides some tutorial videos with GB.

Take a look at this YouTube video; In the View menu, click on Show Editor. This will open the Piano Roll on the bottom half of the window. At the top of the Piano Roll is a button that is either Piano Roll or Score. You may have to adjust the Tempo or Time Signature. There are tons of great audio related YouTube tutorials. Just bear in mind that working in a DAW (even a simplified one like GB) with midi is not a trivial pursuit. Don't expect it to be easy or intuitive.

Giving a novice multitrack midi files with No instructions is a cruel prank IMHO! Whoever created these tracks is the only one who knows how they were mapped. Even if they were all stock instruments, you need to know which drum kit or which string ensemble. It's kind of crazy that they didn't just print the tracks to audio like a sane person would. Contact the creator and find out which track gets which instrument before you waste any more time guessing. He/she should be able to tell you how to open the Score Editor too. BTW, check to be sure they didn't include some sort of Read Me file with the midi tracks.

Forgot again! As far as I know, you can't "daisy chain" usb devices on a mac. You can with firewire but in most cases, OSX will see each one as a separate device so most of the time (such as hdd's) there's no point and you might as well just use a hub. An exception is working with some audio devices. In Audio Midi you can create an Aggregate Device with multi channel interfaces and combine the channel count.

The piano is probably the default. I forgot to tell you to start a New Project (or whatever GB calls it). If the sound is garbled, you should save you project (command s) and restart you computer. There should be a place you can display the midi as a score. Probably in the View menu. Sorry I can't be specific but I've never used GB. These are just general audio/midi/mac things.

Open GB. Find the midi file in Finder. Drag the file into the Tracks (left side) area. GB should open the files with whatever the default instrument you've chosen in Preferences. Hit Spacebar to play.

Happy B Day Tom! I'll never forget meeting you at my first headphone meet (San Jose International). You made me feel very welcome! Cheers!

Not sure how many clams the winning bid was but here's some pretty pictures. http://scluzay.com/

Happy B Day Geno! We'll all join you on Birthday Island tonight buddy!

I went the other way. When I upgraded to Yosemite over the summer, I didn't like the changes to iTunes so I reverted to 11.4. It doesn't sync with other devices like 12 but that's okay with me. I won't be installing el cap until Avid (and a few others) get some issues with Pro Tools ironed out. Maybe next summer?

You guys can come over to my pad and pour cee-mint anytime! I'm hoping that Al's retaining wall will be tested this winter! Here's something crazy,.. I was talking to a lady in one of my classes and I said something about scratching my initials in a freshly poured sidewalk. She said a kid on her street did that and the city (San Jose) had to come out, jackhammer it and pour that slab again? WTF!
